Armenian culture is a rich mixture of flavors and colors. From the architecture to applied arts, performing arts to literature, culture in Armenia represents the history, lifestyle, and beauty of this unique country. One of the examples is national dress with its colors and designs. Armenia was the first nation to officially adopt Christianity in 301 CE and also has its own unique alphabet in 405 CE. Armenian culture is known by its historical khachkars (cross-stone, the monuments of Armenia) which are not found anywhere in the world. I am very proud of being an Armenian.

The culture that I will be talking about is the 3 traditions in Mexico. There are different cultures and traditions in every town based on what they believe. The first tradition that is usually used is called “Day Of The Dead”. This is celebrated November 1st and 2nd this tradition is celebrated all around Mexico. What they do for this tradition is set up an Altar what an Altar is, is a table set up with simpasuchil flowers, pictures of there ancestors who have passed away, and favorite foods that there ancestors liked. They also pray in remembrance of friends and family’s who have passed away. They believe that when they put this table up there ancestors will come back and visit them. The second tradition is “Independence day” Mexico is the best place to be on September 16. This fiesta- friendly holiday celebrates Mexico’s Declaration of Independence from spain in in 1810, and it’s filled with national pride, colorful parades, mariachi concerts and food. The third tradition is “Mariachi” It’s ganre musical. But it is known as “mariachi”. They are usually taken to every Mexican party to sing or dance with this music. It is a representative Icon for Traditions in Mexico. They are also at the grave yards the day of the dead and at the fiestas on independent day. And this is one of my favorites. By: Rafael oliva

During Chinese New Year, my parents and grandparents usually give me red envelope (known as hongbao) which is filled with money to symbolize good wishes and luck for the new year ahead. The traditional Chinese dress is called qipao (also known as cheongsam), which is a classic garment made from embroidered silk and delicate cloth buttons on the front. Indonesian traditional fabric is called batik, which is an ancient art form made with wax resistant dye on fabric. My virtual fashion show pictures show myself wearing the Chinese dress and the Indonesian batik dress. I hope you enjoy reading a little bit about my cultures.

Emily Liu

4th grade (Miss Crossland)
