I believe this piece beautifully captures the scene where Romeo and Juliet first meet each other at the dance. This piece starts off with slow piano melodies that resemble the gentle feeling of love at first sight. As the music starts to slow, the two would lock eyes, seemingly in their own bubble, as the party continues around them. As the dynamics of the music shift, it truly shows the vulnerability and innocence of this new love they're experiencing. This piece is full of emotion, but also feels restrained, which could be homage to the real bittersweetness of their love, but also that it is a masked part, and they have no idea who the other truly is.

I used this piece to represent the fight between Tybalt and Romeo. Dies Irae is a thunderous, dramatic piece, full of tension, perfectly capturing this fight. The pounding rythems, blaring brass, and crashing percussion reflect the fury and desperation of Romeo and Tybalt. As the music swells, we see Romeo become filled with pure rage, his dear friend Mercutio slain at the hands of Tybalt. The title of the song (meaning "Day of Wrath" is also well fitting, as the fight sets off the tragic set of events leading up to the end of the play. The sheer amount of emotion and not only passion, but anger in this piece reflects on the loss of innocence in these characters.

I'm using this piece for the final scene between the two lovers, their deaths. This piece is known for its haunting, slow-building sorrow. The soft music reflects the mourning and grief of these two lovers. As the song's aching melody rises, it resembles the tragedy of Romeo finding his love seemingly dead, and Juliet awakens to find her newly wed husband dead. The slow, heartfelt tempo reflects on the weight of the two's final moments, the everlasting choices they made, and the overwhelming emotion of the fate of these young lovers. This piece doesn't just add drama to the scene, rather it mourns it, allowing the viewer to feel the full emotional impact of this tragedy.
