The Appeal to Authority red flag comes into place when a new release of a product has medical staff or celebrity endorsement to make the product seem like it has been heavily researched and supported by higher levels of authority. 

Connection:
This video shows a perfect example of the Appeal to Authority red flag. In this video is a famous television doctor known as Dr. Oz and he is known for endorsing "fat-burning pills" or "miracle pills" that will help an individual loose weight without the use of exercise. Since he is seen as a doctor figure on television he is a perfect candidate for endorsing the use of these pills to his viewers. Though majority of these weight loss pills he is seen to endorse, have little to no evidence to back up the claims he suggests, such as loosing 18 pounds within a 22 week period. Applying the critical thinking and skepticism should be applied to this claim to provide researchers with more evidence that these pills either do or do not work. Completing studies should be the main priority of these products before releasing them to the public to avoid potentially harmful consequences.

In this article the Mystical Energy red flag is seen through the topic is auras, which is described to be an invisible electromagnetic field surrounding our bodies. Our auras are thought to show off different colours corresponding to different moods or emotions we are feeling and some believers even think they can protect us from danger. Believers of auras are said to be able to sense other peoples auras as well at their own, and it is said that anyone can sense an aura if they just focus and relax. In this article the Ancient Wisdom red flag can be reflected as it states that crystal healing can be dated back 6000 years to the Ancient Egyptian times. It was believed that crystals could help warn off negative energy and illness to those that used them. Now in present day, crystal healing is still implemented in modern day healing, though now it is based off Chinese concepts of "chi and qi" and the use of chakras. Modern day crystal healing is said to connect with the supernatural aspects of the body and can heal the soul as well as the physical body. This video has aspects of Red Herrings all over it as it provides irrelevant information and ideas of the moon landing being a hoax to throw you off from what really happened in space. The Apollo 11 moon landing, which took place in 1969, is still a buzzing topic for conspiracists to this day, as many believe it was faked to try and beat the Soviet Union in the trek to space. Though many scientific experts can provide proof these accusations are fake and it did in fact happen. Some common ingredients in these items can lead to neurotoxicity, harmful irritation and damage to DNA. When watching the video it seems so hard to imagine it being real "magic" so your brain tries to rationalize it but making up different explanations to what he could be doing to have it appear as real life. In order to believe it is real you have to believe and have an open mind to the idea of magic. Define Problem (extraordinary claim):
Does Dr. Oz just endorse these miracle weight loss supplements for money or does he believe they actually work?

Gather Information:
This video is produced by CNN. In the video it explains that Dr. Oz, who endorses these magical weight loss supplements, claims he does not do it just for the money.

Evaluate Evidence:
Dr. Oz does in fact have a master in business administration and also a medical degree, today he is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon. Thus making him a Doctor that can give out valid medical claims that his viewers have grown to believe. Though it has been scientifically proven that these miracle weight loss pills do not actually work, with many claims being made against them and taken off the market.

Recognize Assumptions, Emotions, Biases:
Dr. Oz provides valid medical information on his television show to his viewers everyday. This provides his audience with a bias that the information he shares with them is always true, when if fact he can be scamming them with false information in the hopes to make more profit.

Synthesize Evidence, Identify Alternatives:
Alternative Solution 1: Dr. Oz does in fact only support and endorse these miracle weight loss supplements for the money he collects supported by many claims against him.
Alternative Solution 2: Dr. Oz actually endorses the miracle supplements because he believes they work and is not doing it for the money. As per interviews he states he does not endorse for the financial gain.
