Since it is still early on in the school year, we have not used the iPads very frequently. For writing purposes, we have explored a few apps that enhance pre-writing skills (ex - letter formation, letter sounds). We have used an app to practice correct letter formation and tracing. We have also used an app to practice clarifying and identifying letter sounds. Finally, we have used a magnet letter app to spell our popcorn words and practice blended CVC words. All of these skills are reinforced in the classroom during our Writer's Workshop time. Oral storytelling is such a huge part of Kindergarten at the beginning of the year and I would like to spend more time on that skill. I would like to use the iPads to record students telling their stories. Then, students can playback their story. This will help them remember the words they wanted to write.
