It is just before dawn and right about the time that people begin to get up and get ready for their days. The author says that there is a "coming together of something akin to a storm" which foreshadows the coming together of Boy Willie and Berniece in a way because they seem to have a beef of some sort. It also stated the place where it was like when they are in the parlor where there is an old piano that has beautiful African looking figures carved into showing that this is something that means a lot and that will continue to show up throughout the story showing its importance. I think his siblings had a big impact on his life which then led him to write this play.
I think for the song its a song that took place in that time period so maybe setting the mood almost for the story Talks about like slavery in a way in in the book they used the N word very freely so it again brings it back to the time period they were in.
