I see him as semi-humanoid with the body structure that is of human origin but features that suggest that he is a monster or the offspring of one. I see Grendel as a tall and hunched over figure with a very large mouth, clawed, almost emaciated looking extremities, including the arms and midsection, very pale skinned but dark around the eyes, and hairless. What makes him terrifying is the contrast of his skin and eyes and the abnormal strength he possesses for something with his build.
