What Sotomayor means when she writes in paragraph 6 that study skills were not “addressed explicitly” at her school was that they didn’t clearly taught any study skills at her school. This affected Sotomayor because she wasn’t able to get good grades According to the text it states “She would put a gold star up on the blackboard each time a student did something really well, and was I sucker for those gold stars!” This evidence shows that she couldn’t get any gold stars because she wasn’t good at getting grades. According to the text, it also states “But as I also noticed, a handful of kids, the same ones every time, routinely got the top marks….But how did they do it?” This evidence shows that since she didn’t know how to study so she didn’t get good grades but others did because they knew about to do. Therefore, this proves what Sotomayor means when she writes in paragraph 6 that study skills were not “addressed explicitly.”

What Sotomayor means when she writes in paragraph 6 that study skills were not "addressed explicitly" at her school was that they don't address the study skills very clearly. This affected Sotomayor by the school's lack of addressing study skills is because it means Sotomayor would not be able to get good grades for the camp or gold stars. According to the text,"She would put a gold star up on the blackboard each time a student did something really well , and was U a sucker for those gold star I was determined to collect as many as I could. After the first As began appearing on my report card, I made a solemn vow that from then on, every report card would have at least one mpre A than the last one." This evidence shows that she wants to get many gold stars as she can so she can get rewarded with something. The text also states that," A vow on its own wasnt enough; I had to figure out how to make it happen. Study skills were not something that our teachers at Blessed Sacrament had ever addressed explicitly." This evidence demonstrates that she couldnt get stars because the teachers werent clear with anything for her to study and get good grades. This is what Sotomayor means when she writes in paragraph 6 that study skills were not "addressed explicitly" at her school. This is also how she is affected by the schools's lack of addressing study skills.
