San Carlos Apache Tribe has a water management programs that  aims at preserving water rights and improving water quality and availability for the community.

Activity: Investigate the importance of water rights and management in Apache culture. Students can create a model or simulation demonstrating the impact of different water management practices on local ecosystems and communities.

Renewable Energy Projects: Development of solar energy and other renewable resources to promote energy independence.

NGSS Connection: ETS1.B (Developing Possible Solutions)

Activity: Analyze renewable energy initiatives undertaken by the tribe. Students can design a sustainable energy solution for a community issue, considering the cultural values and environmental impacts important to the Apache Tribe.

San Carlos has Wildlife Conservation Programs that work to protect native species and their habitats, aligning with cultural practices. They also have Sustainable Forestry Practices that  Manage forest resources to ensure sustainability and cultural significance.

Activity: Study the tribe’s wildlife management practices. Students can conduct a research project on a specific species of importance to the Apache culture and create a conservation plan that incorporates both scientific data and cultural significance.

San Carlos has Community Workshops and Forums that are designed to educate and engage tribal members on important issues, including environmental management and cultural preservation. They also have Social Media and Newsletters for ongoing communication about tribal initiatives, events, and priorities.
