On April 12, the taps in Cape Town will run dry, making them the first metropolis in the world to completely run out of water. The original date of water shortage was nine days later than the current predicted date. This article relates to Unit 4 Political Organization of Space, because when that day comes, the residents will have to go to collection points located nearby to collect their ration of 25 liters of water. Measures taken to conserve as much water as possible have not been working as well as they were thought to work, so the government has changed the ration of 87 liters to 50 liters. Because people will begin to go to collections points, some may even move nearby so that they wouldn't have to make a journey to the points. Eventually the residents may migrate to surrounding cities and towns due to the water shortage.

"Instead, locals would have to go to collection points for a daily ration of 25 liters." The people would have to collect water, rather than have running water. This can be a problem as people might need to make long trips or move. This would make large clusters of people living near the collection points. This would be the first metropolis to run out of water. Many people will begin to leave if possible. This is a very big push factor for people to migrate out. The way this ties to Unit 4 is that the lack of water can be a centrifugal or a centripetal force. The people can either be divided because of the lack of water and the competition for water, or united to help each other.

The locals are having to go collect their water and are only allowed to have a certain amount daily. The reason it relates to Unit 4 is because it is about space, the mass of people have to go to a spot to get their water.

This means they have to go everyday back and forth to get water, people will start to move closer to the collection point, which means there will be little to no space left.

I believe this article is related to Unit 4 because of the conflict and troubles that occur. Unit 4 is about Race, ethnicity, and borders and those on there own bring conflict. With the water in South Africa being at a minimum, problems are due to arise because of the size and how important the resource is. With the amount of people living in Cape Town, zero day is closer than expected, giving people less water then they had to begin with.

Unit 4: Political Organization of Space.

This unit practically discusses the ways that people live, why they live there, and how they're connected/separated. (don't quote me i'm dumb and Ms. Edmondson is bound to correct me in a moment.)

Due to the water shortage, people may have to move from where they've always been. This can including moving out of their state or nation. This could cause problems with trying to immigrate, a rush to leave, or even having no place to go. Another problem this could lead to is the mass migration of the residents into one area. This could cause a crisis within the place they're all moving to. Over time there's a possibility this could lead to (italics) ethnic cleansing.

the more you write the better chance you have of being correct. ;)))

In Cape town the drought is becoming more worse. The average of 87 liters went to 50 liters for the residents. Firefighters won't able to retreat water from water hydrants. Many will have to go out and look for at least 25 liters of water. If day zero comes Cape Town will be the first ever metropolis in the world to run out of water. ( I think that this town stumbled upon a social and economic problem because many residents can die without water and many will not think about a government to bring wellness and resources and economic because you can't just say were going to buy water, it is impossible when living and surrounded by deserted areas. Migration can be a way, but like i mentioned you can die without water and migrating through other deserted area is not a choice.)

This prevents fire hydrants, tap water (to drink), people from flushing their toilets, etc. Once there is no water, residents will want to start looking for other places to live with water. This causes them to move, and as a result, they get what they needed in the first place. This is a cycle that keeps going in circles, no one will ever fully appreciate.
