In 5th grade, I read The Giver as a book club book with my group. This novel affected me because it "really spoke" to me and I felt I finally liked a book. I liked it even more because I could have conversations with my club about it. I tend to like books more when I can talk to people about it. This book opened me up to the dystopian world. I enjoyed this book because it was unique from what I've read before. Before The Giver, I used to read cartoon books. (ex. Diary of a Wimpy Kid) This book opened me up to more "mature" books.

I really liked Diary of a Wimpy Kid when I first read it because it is funny, easy to read, and there is conflict but it's not complicated. All of my friends were reading it and I wanted to try it. This book affected me because it was a unique book at the time. It was a perfect book at that time for me becasue it was a step up from what I read. This book made me a more developed reader overall.

Captain Underpants is another story that is easy to read and is comical. I also really liked this book because it is similar to Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I also liked the fact that anybody could read it and the drawings are entertaining.

The Treasure Hunters series is one of my favorite series. After reading the Michael Vey books, I became more intrigued with mystery and action. I got this book at the book fair as well and I bought the whole series a short period after. The thing I liked most about this book are the antagonists and the protagonists. I can relate to them because they are brother and sister. I liked the concept of the book as well. The whole finding your parents and fighting crime thing. This book has impacted me a ton.

Belly Up was the first book/series I ever read in 7th grade. I was familiar with the author, Stuart Gibbs. I read this book because when I read the back cover of the book, I was instantly hooked when there was a crime/mystery. The whole series was a mystery and the crimes were very action packed. This book impacted me because I finally figured out what kind of books I like with this book and it opened me up to the author Stuart Gibbs.

Reflection for Michael Vey

Michael Vey: The Prisoner Of Cell 25 impacted me as a reader because it was recommended to me by my 5th grade teacher and my friend in 5th grade read it with me. It was a high level reading book and I was around that level at that time. It impacted me because it was the first book/series that got me hooked. My friend read the whole series with me. The book opened me up to my favorite genre, mystery. This book inspired me to also read other mystery books and some action books. Michael is my favorite character because he has gone through a lot to get to where he is now. That might be a life lesson as well. Hard work pays off. Overall, this book helped me out in 5th grade and 6th grade.
