Maya was running away from Mrs. Arevalos, because she was trying to escape the detention room. A trash can was blocking her path, so she jumped over it in an attempt to lose Mrs. Arevalos in the chaos. Maya jumped at the point (0,0) and she reached her highest point of 26 inches high, after soaring 36 inches. She landed 72 inches from where she first took off. What is the quadratic equation used for this real life parabola?

In our situation, the y-intercept was simply the location from which Maya stopped her run and began her jump.
