A good way to enter this topic about tattooing is culture. In different cultures tattooing means more than just body art. Lar Krutak stated in Tedx Talk that he would visit all areas of the world and see how these cultures viewed tattoos.Some of the reasons was that women in Alaska would be considered a “true woman “ to her community once she had her tattoo. Also in Nagaland a man named Lalang  would get his tattoos based on his achievements and people he had killed in the past. Tattoos can have different important meanings in different cultures and communities. Ethnocentrism and cultural relativism can be applied to certain styles of tattooing because for some cultures getting a tattoo can be seen as rebellious , criminal, and unprofessional. In other cultures how I mentioned can be sacred, a sign or respect or identity. The cultural views have definitely changed over time.  Today tattoos have been seen more as a way people express themselves. Tattoos in some places still have negative views but it has become more accepted in today's society. My views on tattooing is that if someone want to get a tattoo I don't see an issue with it, but me personally I would not want to mark my body permanently.

When reading In chapter 8 , Body ritual among the Nacirema, It was interesting the way they were explaining the culture of these people. From my understanding these peoples fundamental beliefs were that the body was ugly and have a natural tendency to debility and disease. They mention how even if they do not truly know if something works, they were taught that it does work and not really question it. They mentioned how they would put their heads in ovens and had a special shrine where they put their many charms and magical positions. A ritual called Latipso that was so hard that people will not fully recover. There were also ritual fasts which are to make a fat person thin or a ceremonial feast which is to make thin people fat.What I did not know and found out about the lesson in person was that they were speaking about American culture. They were ethnoscentrism which means judging cultures using our own culture as the standard. These people have different ways of doing things so when they looked at our culture what we were doing was“ weird”, Just as if we were to look at other cultures with different norms we would think like “why are they doing that “. 

The culture i researched likes to make small temples in their home and add photos of deceased people in those temples and on certain dates they offer food so the deceased people can come back to the land of the living to partake in things they do on earth.These people like to take Maize and make small discs that are used as edible utensils that they can eat with pretty much any meal.
