         <description><![CDATA[<p>We are testing 8 chemicals, each that produced a different colored flame. Some flames were quite similar, and some gave off a distinctive color. We are then given an Unknown Letter, which we will have to figure out which element it really was.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Why does the phenomenon happen?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>This phenomenon happens because each chemical has a ground state. By putting it into the flame, it'll excite the electrons, which enter its excited state, and when the electrons calm down or return back to it's ground state, the colorful flame is produced.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>We put popsicle sticks that were dipped into certain types of chemicals, and then putting them into the flame that was produced by a bunsen burner. By doing this, the chemicals can enter its excited state, and then return to it's ground state, which then creates the colorful flame.</p>]]></description>

         <title>How did you determine your unknown?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>We were able to determine our unknown by comparing the flame it produced to the other flames we tested. The one that was most similar to our unknown was considered to be what our unknown was. The element that we believed to be the unknown letter was lead (Pb2+) because they both created a flame that looked like the flame the bunsen burner produced.</p>]]></description>
