The Lincoln Memorial was even bigger than I expected, and standing in front of it felt surreal. Knowing this was the same spot where Dr. King gave his “I Have a Dream” speech made it even more powerful. It was really cool to see in person and made me think about how much history has happened right on those steps.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial was even more impressive in person, with Dr. King’s figure carved straight out of the stone. Seeing his words engraved around the memorial made me really think about the impact he had and how his message still matters today. It was a really cool and powerful place to visit.

I came across this powerful moment, a man delivering a passionate speech while a huge crowd listened, holding up signs and banners. The energy was incredible, and you could feel how much this meant to everyone there. It was a reminder that the fight for change is still happening, and people are still showing up to make their voices heard.

We stopped for lunch at a place called Rice Bar, which is like a Korean-style Chipotle, and it did not disappoint. The flavors were on point, and everyone in my group agreed it was a great find. Definitely one of the best meals of the trip!

I saw this awesome fossil at the Museum of Natural History, which ended up being my favorite museum of the trip. It’s crazy to think about how old it is and the history it holds. There was so much to see, but this one definitely stood out!

Seeing Frederick Douglass’ actual dishes made him feel like a real person rather than just a historical figure. It’s easy to think of him only in terms of what he accomplished, but little details like this made his life feel more tangible. It was a small but powerful reminder that history was lived by real people.

We tried Falafel Inc after seeing it recommended everywhere, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The food was super fresh and flavorful, and for the price, it was honestly a steal. Easily one of the best meals of the trip!

Seeing the pile of shoes at the Holocaust Museum was absolutely heartbreaking. It’s one thing to read about the millions of lives lost, but actually standing in front of something so personal made it feel so much more real. It was a powerful and sobering reminder of the scale of this tragedy.

Seeing all the protest signs at the Museum of American History was both inspiring and frustrating. So many of the messages from decades ago are the same things people are still fighting for today. It was a powerful reminder that progress takes time, but the fight for justice is far from over.

Seeing the iconic words “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” at the Air and Space Museum was surreal. It’s a quote I’ve heard a million times, but standing there made me really think about how huge that moment was. It’s crazy to imagine what it must have felt like to take that first step on the moon.

I was really excited to check out the basketball section at the African American Museum since I love the game. It was awesome to see how much impact basketball has had on African American history and culture beyond just sports. Learning more about the legends who paved the way made me appreciate the game even more.

For our final dinner of the trip, we went to a Mexican spot near our hotel, and it was the perfect way to wrap things up. The food was really good, but the best part was just hanging out and reminiscing about everything we’d done. Great food and even better company made for an awesome last night in D.C.
