Our School is the oldest high school of Elazığ,which was established in 1891.It is a project School whose students come with exams.The location of Elazığ High School has changed many times.It now serves in its New building built after the 2020 Elazığ earthquake.Our high school has 21 classrooms,1 laboratory,1 library, 1 music room , 552 student and a men's hostel.

Our school started education as Evren Paşa Primary School next to Elazığ Atatürk Stadium in 1983. In 2010, it continued education as Gönül İhsan Tangülü Primary School built by the family of Benevolent Gönül and İhsan TANGÜLÜ in the Engineering Campus of Fırat University. Primary and Secondary Schools were defined as separate directorates, but they were managed by a single principal because they were in the same building. With the approval of the Elazig Governorship on 17/07/2018, our school was relocated to the Old Evrenpaşa Primary School under the name of Gönül İhsan Tangülü Secondary School and on 22/11/2018 with the approval of the Elazığ Governorship, the name of Fevzi GÜRSU, who was martyred on 03/02/2018 in Afrin. Our school, which has been in the top three in our province every year in terms of academic education since the day it was founded, has always been the most successful school in sports and cultural activities.

Our school was opened for education in the 1967-1968 academic year. It is the oldest and second most established general high school in our province.Since there is no high school is named for the name of Atatürk in our city, the great leader Ataturk's name was given.Our school consists of two buildings, a total of twenty-six classrooms and a gym.Our school has a Principal, two Deputy Principals, sixty-six teachers, four civil servants, and two auxiliary services class personnel.
