Eric Pan - Equestrian Portrait of Charles V

Equestrian Portrait of Charles V by Titian depicts Holy Roman Emperor Charles V as he rides into battle. Titian's painting exudes an air of glory and valor, which are contained in the pose of both horse and rider. Like many other Renaissance pieces, it portrays a non-religious historical scene, or in this case, the Battle of Mühlberg in 1547. The portrait also incorporates parts of the natural world, such as hills, clouds, and trees.
