He was unsure if he wanted to read because plenty of years had passed since he had experienced the Holocaust, he later agreed to read to the group of children about the small portion of what he remembered, Seveck did not fail to mention the bitter parts of his experience. Seveck was surprised by the  reactions that he had gotten from the children and by how much they listened to what he had to say.

Sevek was searching for his father and brother for a little while until he finally saw them. His father and brother were very relieved to see him. At the camp the Jewish head kapo of the camp came and greeted them and told them about consequences of obeying the rules of the camp. He had seen a lot of things that he did not want to see. The conditions in the camp that he is in now are far worse than the conditions back in a different camp that he used to live in. From the conditions in the camp that Sevek is living in now, he has lice all over is clothes and in his hair. There is also always human waste smell within the air. Sevek is to survive here alone and to trust his guts. There is not a lot of hope left for Sevek.

During the march, Sevek only about 13 or 14 years old at the time saw something that would stay in his memory forever. He saw a father get riffled at right in front of his teenage son. After that incident the march ended up at Weimar railroad station and for a second everything seemed normal again except for the fact that no one acknowledged him because he was a Jew.
