On saturday, I went to the bluemountain in Australia and I experienced lots of things on that day, so I think I can't forget the day for a long time.
The weather of that day was very nice and warm and I enjoyed the sunshine. I woke up little bit early to go to the bluemountain, and after getting ready to go out, I left my home and was going to the appointed place, where a pick-up bus waited my friends, new students from other university and me(who applied the bluemountain tour). But unfortunately, I lost my way to the appointed place, and I had to go to the bluemountain seperately😱. So I just rode train to the katoomba station alone and almost 12:00 p.m. I could meet my friends at the echopoint of the bluemountain🙌. Everyone welcomed me and said they were really worried about me. Anyway I enjoyed the view of echopoint and took a lot of pictures with friends and walked around it. I admired the view that I saw at the echopoint. Although, the way to go there, is little bit hard because of many stairs and long pathway, consited of stones, It was worthful to get there. Even though I coudn't ride scenic world, including skyway, railway, and cableway, it was really great to see all view and I really satisfied the day long.
After eating lunch, we went to the Featherday Wildlife Park. I heard that the Featherday Wildlife Park is large and famous in Australia, so I really expected there before I got there. At there, I saw many animals, such as koalas, kangaroos, small penguins, bats, variety of birds and dingos. Seeing and touching them was really fun, but I was worried about them because they got stressed due to too many people.
After the schedule, I came back home and I fell asleep as soon as I lay down on my bed. There were too many things for me, so I felt tired and exhausted. Next week, I will go to the Port stepehns with friends and I also expect the view of that. And that day, I will never lose my way to get there😁.

Hi Young!
I'm glad you got there safe :) It sounds like you had a lovely time there! I also get quite worried about the animals getting stressed, but I've been told that they looked after very well from the animal keepers :) I'm looking forward to hearing about Port Stephens too!

It was my first week in Sydney. My homestay family are from Sri lanka. They said that they have been living in Australia for more than 20 years. Staying at home for a week, I could eat food that I've never tried before. It was quite unfamiliar with me, but I was glad to try new things. And there is a dog named "Snoopy" and he is really really cute. I think that I would love to stay here in Sydney.
On the first day to school, I was late because I got a wrong train. I usually go to Strathfield station to go to other places, and there are lots of platforms and trains going to different directions. My host mother told me not to take a train that goes to Paramatta because there are two type of train (one to Paramatta, another to Epping) so it would be confusing. I remembered what she said but I was in a hurry that day so I got the train via Paramatta. I realized that I got the wrong train when I was at Granville station. So I had to go back to Strathfield and tried again to go to Macquarie University station.
On Wednesday, I went to Bondai beach with my friends from Seoultech. We went there just on a whim but I really enjoyed the beach. It was very beautiful and nice to see the view. I also went to Sydney tower. I love to see night view and I could see the view of Sydney. It was really awesome.
On Sunday, I went to Featherdale wildlife park. I could see koalas, kangaroos, and many other animals. It was quite smelly there, but I enjoyed there because I cannot see those kinds of animals in Korea. I could touch them and took pictures with them. They were so cute.
It is my first time living in other country but I really love staying here. I hope I could go to many other places in Sydney.

Emma you are having such an eventful time in Sydney. This is so wonderful to hear!! Inah :)

Today, I went out with my Japanese friend who stays in the same house with me. She came here this Monday, and she goes to Sydney University. I was very glad to live with her and wanted to be friendly. My home daddy said that there is a market near our house that opens every sunday. so we decided to go there. There were lots of stores that sell different kinds of things. We searched for some souvenirs for our friends. But it was difficult to choose what to buy because there were so many stores. After shopping, I asked my friend if she has been to Circular Quay and she said that she hasn't. So we went to Circulary Quay and walked around the Rocks market. Then we went to ride ferry. I really liked to ride ferry before, so I recommended her to ride it together. We went to Darling Harbour by ferry. It was quite cold, but we enjoyed it. I hope that we would be able to keep our relationship for a long time. She is very nice and cute. I am really happy to meet her and stay with her for 3 weeks. She said that she likes Korean food, so I think that maybe later, we will be able to hang out for some delicious food!

You are such a good host! I'm sure your friend appreciated being taken around to many parts of Sydney! Inah

Monday

This was the first day of University. I went to class at morning and had orientation of university after lunch time. In the class, I was little nervous, because it was first time using english in total. My host mother, Kit sent and came to pick me up by car. Kit cooked us very delisious food. And then, I was exhausted because I’m not familiar with English so much, so I felt in asleep very quickly. And I might call my girlfriend but I could not remeber that we were taliking about, because of sleepiness.

Tuesday

That day was first time that I go to School alone by train. It was exciting for me, because the trains in Sydney were very cool. Thier train have two floors. There are no-trains like these in Japan. The weather is not good, it was shower. But after lunch with Korean friends at MCQ shopping center, I went to registering Gym at MCQ uni. Then I worked out and played basketball there. I refreshed myself through these exercise. And then, I also felt asleep at 10PM.

Wednesday

The class was awesome. I could know many kind of students through the pair work. Also I could touched variety of sense of values to talk foreign people. I think Australia is really cross-culture society with no-racism. It was really good point of this country. In afternoon, all of KGU students took buddy program. Buddys were in MCQ university. It was really good chance for me to make foreign friends and to practice English. I spoke to 7 people who are learning about Japanese. so they were really familiar to Japanese. all of us looked so fun. Besides, some of guys include me went to the bar at uni, talk each other, and drunk beer. It was really good time too. After that, I went to Uniqlo at MCQ Shopping Center to buy some clothes for cold weather. So I feel good wearing warm clothes. Before sleeping, I had been calling to my girl for a half and an hour. We talked about her movie watched, my feelings in Sydney, and our change of mind for long distances.

Thursday

I feel my ears getting better to listen English day by day at a little bit. So I got enjoy time in class. I’m very curious person, so I can make sence more about lessons, my motivation increases slightly. In after class, we went to city of sidney. I looked opera house, harbor bridge, china town, and darling harbor. I liked Sydney’s city view with high buildings, skyline, harbor with ships, and big bridge. It was similar to my home town, Kobe. My home town is also urban and port city. That’s why I liked Sydney. I took many pictures, because I liked to take photo. and this day was great day ever in Australia.

Friday

We were planning to hang out with my classmates, Jann, heekyung, Jiwon, and Roger. I and Jann like to smoke shisha that is kind water pipes from Arabian culture. After the class, we drove to shisha cafe by roger’s car and enjoyed smoke’s flavour of mint, lemon, and sweet special. It was interesting for me to share each private life from different country. Time flyed so fast. And Roger took me home by his car. He always says jokes, but really kind to his friends. I touched his chinese culture. Also Korean and swiss culture were interesting for me. At dinner time, I talked to host father about his hobby that he likes to make pramodel of japanese anime and host mother about my university life in Japan, religion, her sons, difference between our culture, and how to get better in English. My both host mother and father are really really kind to me. I always appreciate them, and host brother too. This day was really awesome to me ever.

Saturday

I woke up late morning, and then I tried to go to Gym at Mcq Uni. But I could not. Because, there were no train in my nearest station. I didn’t notice that thing since I was listening music with my headphone. So I was waiting for 45minutes at bench of meadowbank. I’ll be careful next weekends. When I arrived at gym, it was already at 12am. However, it was holiday. I worked out that all I wanted with caring about no-time. After this, I went to MCQ shopping center. While window-shopping, I was calling to my girl friends to share our each life for an hour. It was very fun time. I think I have what it takes be Australian life than Japanese life, because there are three reasons. First, Australian water and air are good for me. Second, Sydney is similar to my home city that have port and many high buildings. Third, Many many values and culture exist together. that’s why I like Sydney.

At night, I went to bar near university, besides I made new friends who lives in Sydney since she was 4 years old. It was really good time.

Sunday

I went to city for sightseeing, and i took many picture. I like to take pictures, so happy for me. I went to Opera house, botanical garden, Rocks, and rode ferry. I liked ferry. I felt good wing and saw nice view from sea. And then I had T-born steak for the dinner. I like steak, I could eat steak forever. It was nice weekends, and I have survived for a week.

Yuta, thank you for writing about everyday :) It sounds like you are really immersing yourself in the culture here, and are having lots of fun! This is really great to hear :)

Yesterday, I went to Art gallery of NSW. Whenever I went to aboard, I always visited art museum and gallery. In my opinion, visual art is most powerful way to show country's culture. Art also contains the country's history, transitions of mode, national features, even future of national art. The more I exprience the artwork, the more I learn about art. In yesterday, There are 4 planned exhibitions. One of the planned exhibitions is Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. I don't like painting much,(I have more interest in modern sculptures and media arts)Frida Kahlo is one of my favorite artists. Painter Frida Kahlo was a Mexican self-portrait artist who was married to Diego Rivera and is still admired as a feminist icon.
Often she was remembered only as Diego Rivera's wife.
She suffered lifelong health problems, many of which were caused by a traffic accident she survived as a teenager. Recovering from her injuries isolated her from other people, and this isolation influenced her works, many of which are self-portraits.
She thought her social identity as a woman doesn't match her personal identity. So she always thought she is broken like a machine. Some of her drawings and paintings look cruel and gross. That is expression of her complicated feeling like frustration and depression.
Even though she went trough many hardships, she never gave up. Rather, It makes her continue to paint. After seeing all of her artworks, I suddenly have a question. If I was in her case, what would I do? Can I continue to paint? Can I live for just art?
Although my major is art, It's not easy to answer that question. Maybe I'm not a professional artist, but just student.
To be an art itself, not just artist, is most important attitude to be a genuine artist.
Enlightenment has still remained in my head.

Abby, what insightful and deep thoughts you have been having about yourself. I don't know much about art, but the pictures you showed us of your work was really very very beautiful, and I think you can consider yourself an artist even though you are still studying. I am sure you have a bright future ahead of you :)

On Saturday, I went to Taronga zoo with my friends and Macquarie students. I took a ferry and a ropeway to get there. The scene from the ropeway was beautiful because yesterday was lovely day!! The zoo was really big, so it took about 4.5 hours to watch all animals. My favorite one was koala. They were sleeping with their body curled up, but they were very cute. After watching some animals, I went to seal show. In general, dolphin show is the most famous in Japan, so seal show was fresh for me. They were also smart and lovely like dolphins. I didn't have enough time, but I enjoyed a lot! If I have a chance, I want to visit new facility which is coming soon.

I went to Port stephens today. My friends and I booked for a tour, so we met at 7:00AM near Townhall station. We went to do sandboarding. At first, it seemed very high and steep to do sandboarding. So my friends and I were quite aftaid of going down. But I tried because I could only do sandboarding here in Australia. And actually, it was not so scary as we expected. We really enjoyed it so that we tried it several times. Then, we went to have lunch. We could eat bibimbap which is a traditional food in Korea. After having lunch, we rode a cruise to see dolphins. It was difficult to see them because they didn't appear. So Abby downloaded an application using her smartphone which makes ultrasonic waves. It was really amazing that dolphins appeared after using the application. It really worked!😁 After that, we went to Port Stephens winery and tried some sample of wine. I liked Moscato the best. It was quite long day today but I really enjoyed the tour.

Today is my last weekend to stay in Sydney. It feels like I recently came here holding my luggage, but already 3 weeks have passed. Especially, this week was hard,
but the hardship made it that much more meaningful. It can be seen as a long period of time but in reality, I should spend more time with my homestay family. On Friday, I met Andrey, one of the students in my homestay. He is Macquarie uni student too, but he is not a exchange student. His major is accounting. He is from Ukraine. He has short hair like army. First time I saw him, I thought he is very cold-hearted person because he looks like he has no facial expression. But I would like to get to know him better, I asked to him to have a night out together. And he said okay, we could have a dinner together. He is very very faithful student. Unlike me, he always concentrate his studying. Having a dinner, I taught him some korean word. it was so funny because his pronunciation was awkward and odd but his face was so serious. And he taught me Russian and Ukraine. It was too hard to speak. On the way home together, we had a long and meaningful conversation in train. He said a lot of things about his family, friends and country. His older brother is a police man, his girlfriend has thousands of follower in Instagram, his japanese friend is handsome, he can't drink, things like that. We haven't met for long, but I think we become intimate in short time, even though we have another culture and languages. I hope we'll be able to make wonderful memories together till the last week.

This week was also good week, especially weekends. I had short trip for Byron Bay. On Saturday morning, I woke up very early at 6am. Then, I went to Sydney airport. I like to take trip so plains are also my favorite of journey. After arriving at Balina airport, I took the bus to Byron Bay. Way to Byron bay was also beautiful, because of a big nature. I saw many kinds of color. For example, it was green, light green, deep green, blue, sky blue, and sometimes yellow(leaves). And then, I took a nap at beach. After napping, I meet up my old friend who is taking working holiday and live in Byron bay. We had very nice chilling time there. I could really refresh!
