In this performance Miley performed her song "We Can't Stop" and was accompanied on stage with Robin Thicke as they performed together his song "Blurred Lines" (perhaps one of the most controversial songs of the decade as it contained notions of rape). Throughout the performance Miley is wearing very little, sticking her tongue out and touching herself with a foam finger. Miley's gig with The Voice (USA) was the perfect opportunity to showcase, not only her insane talent as a singer, but also her ever changing star image. Still sporting her weird and quirky outfits, we see a more relatable side of Miley through her time as a judge/coach. She is really dedicated to helping the contestants and we also get to see a really funny and natural side to her. She is seen to be laughing and making fun of her rebellious era showing that she has a real sense of humour. Considering the lyrics of second and final single (Younger Now), it's a clear reflection of her entire star image over the years. She states how no one stays the same and that what goes up must come down (perhaps a metaphor for her the criticism she received during her rebellious era). She also states that she feels younger now, which I believe is reflective of her "new" star image which is actually a more modern and refurbished one of her younger-self. Miley's star image has changed drastically over the years (from the innocent child country star, to the rebellious teen, a chilled and more mature version of the country girl and finally to a rock star) and she spent a lot of her rebellious years trying to separate the image of Miley Cyrus from that of her alter-ego Hannah / Miley Stewart. However, she states in this letter how she is thankful for her time as Hannah 'They gave me you. The greatest gift a girl could ask for.
