         <title>Metamorphic Mountain</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Two hundred and fifty million years ago during the Mesozoic Era, there was a mountain in Ontario, Canada, made of metamorphic rock. This mountain was on a transform boundary. A transform boundary is when two tectonic plates under the Earth's surface slide against each other. The plates can get stuck and build up pressure. One fateful day the pressure between the plates under this mountain built up so much that it caused a 9.5 magnitude earthquake. Suddenly the ground split open and a large piece of the mountain rock fell down to the valley below.</p>]]></description>

         <title>The Weathering...</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In the valley the large rock sat exposed to the elements. Over time the rock became weathered by the wind and rain. When something is weathered it is broken down by the elements. The large rock started to get smaller. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Many years later after the sedimentary rock had formed, it began to be pushed down into the Earth's crust. The rock was exposed to heat and pressure from the friction from the Earth's shifting crust. The rock then once again took a new form called metamorphic rock.  </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>While on vacation a tall red headed boy was taking a walk on the beach with his mother when he came across the rock. He picked it up and decided to take it home with him to Massachusetts to show to his science class. When he showed it to his class they thought that the rock was the coolest thing they had ever seen. Little did they know the long journey it took from the Mesozoic all  the way to the Cenozoic Era. Now it will happily live the rest of its rock life on the shelf at Worcester Academy. </p>]]></description>

         <title>Volca-nooooooo!</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Since the metamorphic rock was in a subduction zone where denser crust gets pushed down into the mantle, it sunk deep within the Earth's mantle. The rock got super heated, melted and formed a liquid called magma. The convection in the mantle pushed the tectonic plates apart and spewed the magma out of the crust as a volcano. </p>]]></description>

         <title>Becoming Igneous </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>After erupting the magma from inside the volcano cooled on Earth's surface and became igneous rock.  Over time the rock was worn away by wind and became smaller and smaller. It was eventually carried away by the wind in a process called erosion. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The wind carried the tiny rock all the way to an ocean beach. Over more time the rock compressed together with other small rocks and shell pieces on the beach. This new sedimentary rock was eventually pulled by the tide into the ocean. </p>]]></description>

         <title>The Big Blow</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>On the ocean floor the rock was now pushed by the tides into the oceanic crust. The pressure from the ocean water and the mantle caused it to transform one final time to a metamorphic rock. The metamorphic rock was stuck in a hot spot under the ocean. A hot spot is a volcanic region in the middle of the plates. This hot spot caused the rock to be blown up through the oceanic crust and on to the shore. </p>]]></description>
