Mama to Walter: “I think Ruth is thinking ‘bout getting rid of that child. … When the world gets ugly enough—a woman will do anything for her family.” P. 75

This quote shows how Ruth is altruistic because Ruth probably wants to have her baby however she knows as of right now her and the family don't have the space nor do they have the money for another person in the house. So that's one of the reasons  she was considering not to go through with her baby. Also, this point in Ruths life she doesn't believe in her self and deep down she is broken because she got marry so young and had a child and now she is pregnant again. Even though she is lovely, kind, always there for her family she can be selfish.

Also, this quote shows how Ruth is determine because Ruth really needs this house. Ruth actually may have her baby if she has a new house because that means she'll  have more space. Even though Ruth said that no matter what she will love and take care for her baby. If Ruth had this house she wouldn't be has lowkey selfie. She probably would actually want to get up and do something that she likes to do.

I believe that Ruth is a sympathetic character even though she's selfish sometimes. She's sympathetic because she truly cares for her family and she wants the best for them. Even though she can be selfish sometimes without her knowing it. I feel has though she can be that way because nobody appreciates her. She is a great person a great mom, wife , daughter in law, friend and etc. She has a loving husband however, he hasn’t been on the right track lately with his life and she has an amazing son who is always doing something adventurous with his life. In this picture they are holding hands and its showing how the lady is always there  and will be there for her husband. This relates to Ruth because in the novel raisin in the sun Ruth’s husband Walter wasn’t being the best husband however, Ruth stood there by his side no matter what even if she didn’t agree on everything he believed and/or wanted.

You can always do better. This reminds me of Ruth because I feel has though she has always been a good person and just wanted to be happy. However, she has held herself back for others. She can and she will grow, you can see that near the end of the story starting off with getting a new house. She is young even though everything makes her seem old. Ruth will grow and continue to be a beautiful emotionally woman.

In the novel , Raisin in the Sun every character wanted something more then anything. Even though they lived in a small house and didn’t have that much money they all believe in themselves to make their dreams come true. For example, Mama wanted a bigger and better house for everyone to live in but nobody thought she could do it bc of the problems going on in the world. Also , because they were living on short money problems. However she ended up doing it , in the novel it says, Ruth to Mama: “So you went and did it [bought a house]! … PRAISE GOD! Please, honey—let me be glad…you be glad, too. Oh, Walter…a home…a home.” P. 91,92.
