Normative history-graded influences: this could be seen in the viewpoint of our grandparents. They grew up in a time very much different than ours. We cannot expect them to conform or accept the things which they weren't accustomed to. I believe in Tuesdays with Morrie, it was quoted, "...The culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves. And you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn't work, don't buy it."
