8/23/2021
For today's lesson, we tackled the basic principles, definitions, and terms in relation to Family-Centered Care.

I can define Family-Centered care as focusing on the social, physical, and emotional well being of each individual in the family, including the patient and their family.

As nurses, we aim to promote, maintain, restore, and rehabilitate any of the patient's needs. It is our job to educate the patient to be aware of his or her health, and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Not only that, but to also treat the patient's illness and restore them to a good health status. At the same time, prevent them from getting further complications from the illness itself.

As a nurse in the Philippines, we should be aware of the current statistics in relation to the Maternal department, to see how we as future nurses can strive to improve and maintain these statistics.

8/24/2021

Growth and Development are independent and interrelated, meaning they are connected but don't necessarily rely on a dependent factor to change. Growth refers to the physical changes our body goes through, such as our physical size or weight. While Development refers to the qualitative growth in our behaviour, personality and skills.

There are two factors that affect growth and development; genetic inheritance and environmental influences. Because families are diverse, other families genetic build is different from others. For example, other people may grow taller than some people. Environmental influences affect the formation of the baby's personality, especially the child's caretaker.

There are four theories of development that we use as a guide to further understand development. These are Psychosocial Development (Freud), Psychosocial development (Erikson), Cognitive Development (Piaget), and Moral Development (Kohlberg).
