(This was significant because it marked to start of a heated war)

September 12, 1950- North Korean troops reach their farthest point of advance. (This is significant because it shows that south korea is not giving up and let letting north korea destroy them)
October 25, 1950- Having destroyed the bulk of the North Korean army, UN troops have pressed on into North Korea and are now approaching the Yalu River. 

January 4, 1951- Chinese and North Korean forces recapture Seoul. (This was significant because the North Koreans killed many people and showed their dominance by recapturing seoul)

April 11, 1951- U.S. Pres. Harry S. Truman relieves MacArthur of command for insubordination and his unwillingness to prosecute a limited war. He is succeeded as UN commander by Lieut. Gen. Matthew Ridgway.

The U.S and USSR did not fight each other directly but fought indirectly. They fought indirectly by sending materials and troops for North and South Korea.  It was also apart of the Cold War because, the Cold War was USA vs USSR. In the Korean War USA wasn't battling the USSR directly but they were still on opposite sides, just like the Cold War. The Korean war impacted not just Korea but the whole word. Korea lost a lot of there materials, factories, and buildings. It also lost a lot of its population. Families were split up and some never so each other again. This war also created the most heavily fortified border.
