Hi, I’m Vanessa and I come from an allied health background, practising as an Occupational Therapist while also operating my own company in this space. I’m interested in expanding my understanding of governance, legislation, and policy.

As an OT, I’m grounded in understanding how people move through and experience their world. This has led me to recognise how pivotal institutional and governance systems are in shaping how people connect, engage, and participate in their communities.

This has drawn me to the legislation, policy, and governance course, as my work increasingly sits at the intersection of practice, policy, and systems. Across both my Department of Education role and allied health settings, I see first-hand how governance structures directly shape what is possible on the ground for children, families, and professionals.

I’m keen to build my understanding of governance to strengthen how decisions, accountability, and systems design translate into equitable, inclusive, and sustainable practice that genuinely supports the people accessing and living within these systems. Looking forward to connecting with you all.

Hi I'm Alison I am the Venues and Government Partnership Manager for the AFL in Queensland. I have been in this role for 6 months and before that I was the CEO of Hockey Qld for 6 years. In both positions the interactions and influence of all level's of Government have been essential for funding, progress and relevance of sport. However, often I have found it has been more of my interest in politics than any real skill in navigating these interactions and negotiations.

I am looking forward to improving my understanding of public policy and how to use that knowledge to get greater outcomes from my interactions with Governments.

Hi I am Marilena and I have been the Policy and Standards Advisor for Aboriginal Community Services for the past 4.5 years. We provide aged care services both in residential and home care.
