Uranus and Gaea created Cronus and Rhea, among others, but they were the ones that had the 12 olympians Hestia, Pluto, Poseidon, Zeus, Hera, and Demeter. There are multiple theories as to how Athena was born, but all of them say that she sprang from Zeus’s head. One of the myths says that Metis, the first wife of Zeus, was the mother of Athena, but when Metis was pregnant with her, Gaea and Uranus advised Zeus to swallow her. After doing this he then gave birth himself to Athena, who leapt from his head fully grown and adorned in all her robes. Athena was the God of wisdom and good council, heroic endeavor, weaving, pottery, and other crafts. She is depicted as a ‘stately woman’, armed with a spear and shield. She also wears a snake-trimmed cape adorned with Gorgon Medusa's monsters. She had no children because she was a virgin goddess. There is a myth about her when she fought in the Trojan war, she attacked the Greek’s ships with huge storms after they failed to punish Ajax for violating her Trojan shrine. She is also said to have very blue eyes because of her relation to Poseidon.

Odysseus doesn't kill him, though, because he knows that Polyphemus is the only one strong enough to move the rock that blocked the cave. After Polyphemus moved the rock and ran, Odysseus and his men escaped the cave.
