Ils indiquent comment lire cette phrase.
1. La ponctuation de fin de phrase:
  • Le point simple (.) se place à la fin d'une phrase déclarative.
  • Le point d'interrogation (?) se place à la fin d'une phrase interrogative.
  • Le point d'exclamation (!) qui se place à la fin d'une phrase exclamative.
  • Les points de suspension (...) qui indiquent que la phrase est inachevée, que tout n'a pas été dit. Les points de suspension sont formés de 3 points simples

2.La ponctuation à l'intérieur de la phrase
Il existe d'autres signes de ponctuation que l'on peut trouver à l'intérieur d'une phrase.
  • La virgule (,) marque une courte pause dans la phrase.
  • Le point-virgule (;) marque une pause plus longue et sépare la phrase en deux.
  • Les deux-points (:) annoncent une énumération, une explication ou précèdent des guillemets.
  • Les guillemets (« et ») s'utilisent pour rapporter les paroles de quelqu'un.
  • Le tiret (-) en début de phrase annonce la réponse, les paroles d'une autre personne dans un dialogue.
  • Les parenthèses (( et )) servent à ajouter une information.
