         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>the Government of Japan was influenced bu the Chinese style of government. Japan adapted the idea of the Chinese style of government from Prince Shotoku, however for many years the Japanese style had been very different from the Chinese style. However in the late 7th century, the government style changed when Emperor Tenmu and his wife reformed the central government by taking land away from the clan leaders and giving it to the people in exchange, the people would pay taxes, then by the 700s, Japans government looked like China's.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Japans capital city was known as Nara. It was built and based on the Chinese capital city Chang´an. Chang´an had an are of 35 miles and two million people, while Nara had an area of 8 miles and 200,000 people. They both had checkerboard style roads, boulevards in the center as well as Buddhist temples on monasteries.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Japans religion changed from Shinto which believed in Kami who was a spirit, some emperors were considers Kami. In 552, a Korean king sent the Emperor of Japan a statue of the Buddha. After a while, the Japanese Emperor agreed to allowed Buddhism. However it did not replace Shinto, the two even merged. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Originally, Japan´s language was a spoken language, they had no writing system of their own. The first Japanese scholars began to use Kanji or Chinese writing to write Japanese words. by the 900s, Japan invented Kana which means borrowed writing  in which the letters were simplified.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Japanese style of poetic writing dated back to the 7th or 8th century. The Japanese developed a poem using Chinese characters, that was known as a Tanka. A tanka was a poem with 5 lines, the lines have a specific numbers of syllable. Another form is known as a haiku, a haiku has three lines and a total of 17 syllables. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The sculptures of Japan originated in India, however like Buddhisms, it spreaded to China, Korean and then Japan. The three each have a statue representing the Buddha, however they are made from different materials. Japan was made from wood, Korea was made from stone and China was made from bronze. From the middle of the 6th century to the middle of the 7th century, Korea and China made religious sculptures for Japan, the Japanese artist learned new techniques from them.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Japans architecture is based of the architecture from India. In India, Buddhist monasteries featured shrines called Stupa with roofs shaped like bells. Later China created a building with curved roofs and multiple stories, this was known as a Pagodas. Japan adopted the Pagodas design when Buddhism came to Japan.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The native music of Japan consist of chanted poems, folk songs, war, song and Shinto prayers. As contacted with the Asian mainland became more frequent, music was imported form different regions, especially from China. As new music was adopted new instruments were required. One instrument they used was known as a Sho in Japanese. A Sho is a mouth type organ designed to look like a phoenix which was a mythical bird.</div>]]></description>
