I think this thought comes from the fact that I've heard fat in this context a lot more than I have heard fat in other contexts. When I spend more time thinking about the term "fat," I then think of triglycerides, which are fatty acids. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When I think of fats I think of the good and also the bad sides of fats. There are healthy fats such as those in foods like fish, nuts, oils and vegetables. And then there are bad fats, such as those in processed foods like sweets and foods high in cholesterol like fast food. There is also unsaturated fats versus saturated fats. Saturated fats are the fatty acid chains with carbons that have carbons full of hydrogens. Unsaturated fats have one or more double bonds within the chains and are more linear. This means that they have different properties, unsaturated fats being liquid at room temperature and saturated fats being solids at room temperature. Saturated fats usually come from animals and unsaturated fats come from plants. There is also another fat called trans fat which is an artificially made saturated type fat made from unsaturated fat via hydrogenation.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>To me fat is something we need to be healthy and there are a lot of healthy fats out their like avocados, nuts, fatty fish but the fats we should stay away from are also the foods we enjoy most like butter, sour cream and ice cream.  Even if one consumes this on a regular base it doesn't mean it can harm you it really depends on how much fat you have on your body and what your exercise routine is to manage what you eat.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Fat has a lot of connotations! Unfortunately the most common place I see that word in on the front of magazines in grocery store lines. So-and-so lost fat, how to loose fat fast, etc.<br>Food related, the word fat makes me think of bacon fat, or any fat on a cut of meat. I grew up trying to avoid fat on meat just because my parents did. Plus, fat isn't nice to chew. Then one day my aunt asked her child to hand her the leftover piece of meat with fat on it because she likes it! Her body appears to be healthy and balanced, so that was an interesting perspective change for me.</div>]]></description>

I think there is a stigma around eating fats, but for instance avocados, dark chocolates, nuts, and fatty fish are all healthy sources of fat. Granted, there are non-healthy fats, but I believe everything is ok in moderation!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When I think of fat, I don't necessarily think about the fats that we consume in our diets, but the increase adipose tissue from consuming a surplus in calories. Also, I remember when I was really young and didn't know anything about nutrition, I thought the main contributor to weight gain was your consumption of fat, and that fat makes you fat and not that calories had the biggest impact.  But in regards to dietary fat, the first thing that always comes to mind is avocados being a good fat. I didn't know till recently, that having good fats in your diet are important in hormone regulation and production, such as, human growth hormone and testosterone. So if you're an avid gym-goer and are reading this, make sure that you aren't on a low fat diet as this will decrease your muscle growth because it will slow your hormone production which is no good.</div>]]></description>

Fat is also known to be in foods. They are known has good and bad fats. They can be in saturated and monosaturated fats or fatty acids. They are a constant intakes in a diet for many people. In our body, fats are a necessary source to function every day. From here on, think of fats as more then just a word to describe someone, it is a constant substance in every body.  </div>]]></description>

Although I know that some fats are good for you and that they are necessary to sustain life, the negative fat found in burgers, pizza, french fries, chips, candy, etc are all what come to mind when I hear this term.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The word "fat" can be used in many different contexts. When I think of the word "fat", the first thing that comes to my mind is my body. I have struggled with my weight since I was a young child. I grew up learning from my parents that foods with lots of fat in them would make me fat, bacon  for example. During the summer, I started my journey on Keto. Upon starting, I did thorough research on the diet to maximize the amount of weight I could lose and I learned a lot of things. One of the main things I learned was that my parents were wrong about fats. Although high amounts of fats in a diet can be bad for your health, sugar is the main culprit for weight gain and being "fat". Keto consisted of eating foods high in fats and on the contrary to what they thought, I was losing weight rather than gaining it from eating these "fats".</div>]]></description>

We are are risk for many diseases when we eat excessive amounts of fat such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. I also think of things that contain large amounts of fat; red meats, lard, highly processed foods. It's unbelievable to think that in the United States there is such a large risk for diseases that stem from large amounts of fat. He’s fat, she’s fat, that food is fattening, nothing sounds good. I used to be fairly over weight and all I could think about was getting rid of fat. I needed to get rid of fat from my body, my diet, and my mind set. I loved a lot of fatty foods, but not the good fatty foods. I learned that I needed to remove unnecessary fats from my diet and replace them with heathy fats. Some of the “good” fats I added to my diet were avocados and fish!          <description><![CDATA[<div>Today, actually, while I was driving home from work I saw a car on the road with the license plate that read "Im Fat" and I thought to myself, "How interesting." What motivated them to pursue a license plate of all things with that statement on it. Was it purely to spur thought like it did to me, was it to embrace their body, or was it a shameful statement that they held onto and carried during their life. When I first think of the word fat it is not usually associated with food but rather about fat in the body and how it affects one's muscular structure, organs, and overall bodily functioning. <br><br>However, after learning more about fat throughout my high school and college career I cannot help but think about the importance of fat and the balance one needs of fat. Healthy fats found in unprocessed, natural foods and fat in the body that helps surround organs and cushion for the body. It is quite interesting how that balance can easily tip from one way to another. </div>]]></description>
