There was no need to accuse and kill others because of the reasons provided on the DBQ, such as jealousy of wealth, jealousy of marital status, and because of the "fame" these "afflicted girls" gained. I think killing off people because of these stupid reasons was wrong. For example, on Doc E it shows that there was considerably more accusers on the West, less wealthier side, while the East side contained many more accused witches who were later killed. I also think that the actors who posed as "afflicted girls" were in the wrong. Just because they enjoyed getting the fame of being the "afflicted girls", the consequences were way too harsh. Like Charles Upham said, "they soon... became intoxicated... by the terrible success of their imposture." Also in Doc B, you can see that most of the accusers were mostly women who were single or widowed, and the accused were mostly those who were married. Therefore, we can conclude that the hysteria of the Salem Witch Trials was caused by jealousy of wealth, jealousy of marital status, and because of the "afflicted girls" acting which ultimately convinced the entire community.
