Brendan: I was surprised in the chapter "The Mouse in the Milk, 1930."Because grandma Dowdel threatened to shoot the Cowgill brothers just because they blew up her mailbox with a fire cracker! : O, I also kind of chuckled because they were all scared out of there skin. And they got beet by their parents. I think her actions were fair because she was defending herself.

Anthea: I thought grandma Dowdel was very sneaky when she used an illegal fish trap. When reading this chapter, i was amazed, shocked and laughing a little bit. Now after finishing the book I know that it is sort of normal for grandma to do things like this. But throughout the book i really think she is a good grandma, who is willing to break a law to get food for a person in need.

Grandma finally gets it for all those times she did sneaky stuff!
When she switched the names around, the other person won with Grandma's pie. She used an old ribbon to get a ride on the plane!
Grandma is EXTREMELY sneaky.

This is because she hides a person in her room! I thought this really isn't Mary Alice, but then I thought she did do it so that Junior and Vandalia could be together . So now I think that this is something like Mary Alice .

Morgan: "In the troop train" 1942. I was very sad that Joey went to join the army. It is very nice that Grandma Dowdel waved to Joey as the troop train went by. I am also surprised that she did that. Just saying its a little weird that grandma Dowdel waved to Joey. in the first part of the story grandma dowdel would defiantly not do that but as the story went on grandma you could see that grandma dowdel started to drift to more of a nice person. but is still a little of her old self changed through out the story. She is an amazing Grandma.
