Train your artistic eye and develop visual literacy as we practice looking closely at details to interpret works of art using visual evidence. Our world is full of images and it is important that we can read them, discover their meaning, and examine why artists make the choices they do. We will discover how to look at a work of art through sketching, storytelling, and games, asking questions about what we see and making looking at art fun!

• Aligned with Utah Core Standards for fourth-grade and 21st-century learning skills promoting critical thinking, creativity, and communication.  
• Available by appointment Tuesday–Thursday, and need to be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance. Limited space is available.  
• Tour lasts an hour but can be adapted to shorter or longer periods of time by request. 
• 30-minute art making activity after tour.
• Experience is 100% free of charge for all students, teachers and chaperones, with possible transportation fees also paid for while funds last.

See, feel, and appreciate the millennial customs and traditions of indigenous peoples! 

This 4-hour same-day experience includes both a guided tour and art-making at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, as well as an exploration of the Native Voices and First Peoples galleries at the Natural History Museum of Utah. 

Aligned with sixth-grade social studies standards, this field trip celebrates the cultural and linguistic diversity of indigenous and Latinx peoples, and explores themes of identity, history, and culture.

The Leonardo is a local non-profit that professionally curates content in order to provide high-quality education that fuses science, technology and art in experiences that inspire  creativity and innovation in people of all ages and backgrounds. 

The Leonardo field trip is a 2-hour experience that includes a workshop and access to the first and second floor of the museum and the Art Through Experience exhibit. You will be able to see all our different exhibits and participate in the different hands-on activities scattered throughout the museum.

Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company’s free matinee performances are made available to Utah students for the school year 2021-22. Every year up to 7,000 students attend this performance free of charge (it is supported by the Utah State Board of Education).
