Seems like a very close community, but also seems very segregated and some what judgmental to the Radley family.

I am a sister, which means going to any length to look out for my brothers. I think an unspoken rule about being a sister is being a female role model in their life. You're the one to teach your brothers right from wrong, its your job to show them how to take care of not only themselves but also women. I think an important rule that is written down is that your sister should always be a mature person you can always look to when things go wrong, which for me is true, Because I always want to be that type of sister for my brothers.

Chapter 4 questions 2/7

I think they want to prove they aren't afraid all for separate reasons. I think Dill wants to do it because he is curious and somewhat wants to find out what COULD happen if he kept pushing the limits by showing he isn't afraid. I think Jem wants to do it to prove that he is a man and that he isn't scared of anything but most of all I think he is doing it because he doesn't want to look lame or uncool. Lastly I think Scout is doing it to prove that she is a girl but that doesn't mean she's afraid, she's doing it to prove that not all girls are scared of every little thing, but most of all I think she is doing it for herself to prove to herself that she isn't afraid.
Jem believes girls are below boys. He thinks girls are weak and incapable. I think the way Jem looks at girls is exactly what everyone else believes about them in that period of time. I believe Jem with have a coming to life moment in the story where he soon realizes that girls aren't below boys but they are equal too or sometimes greater then them.

Dill asks Scout to marry him earlier in the summer, but forgot.

Scout was the only girl Dill would ever love, but he neglected her

Jem and Dill only got closer, leaving Scout behind

Scout beats up Dill twice

Mr. Radley was a foot-washer (someone who believed that all pleasure was a sin.)

Foot-washers believe women are a sin by definition.

Jem caught by Atticus trying to give Mr. Radley a note.

EVENTS THAT DRIVE THE PLOT FORWARD:

One connection I am making is the belief that women are lower than men. In the story during this period of time men strongly believe that women are somewhat irrelevant, this connects to the 21st Century because women are still looked down on and all these years later many workforces are still male orientated. The truth is still to this day women are still trying to prove we aren't weak but rather strong, capable, and able to do all things.
Another connection I can make is basing someone off of their past/rumors made about them. In the story everyone bases the Radley family off of their past or rumors they have heard about them as a family. In this generation rumors and drama spread, while your past sticks. This can not only affect your reputation but it can also effect you as a person.

Atticus could have done a better job at fighting for racism in Maycomb by not only using his voice in the court room, but outside of it as well. Atticus stood up for an African American in court because that was his job, but it's what he believes in too. While the whole town IS racist Atticus ISN'T, I believe he's afraid to get judged, not because he is standing up for a black person, but because he isn't putting black people down like everyone else.

When I was little I believed everyone was equal when it came to money. I was in 1st grade when there was a little girl who had lost her book fair money, at the time I didn't understand why she was so upset, but now that I am older and look back at it and think about her concern it was because she was less fortunate then some. This event was important to me because I still look back at it today because not everyone have it good or have a stable life, that event is a constant reminder for me to be grateful for what I have instead of idolizing things I don't have. I think about that beautiful girl all the time and wonder if she ever got the things she wanted in life.

Aunt Alexandrea - Chapter 13

In chapter 13 we meet Aunt Alexandrea, in my opinion she is a very prideful and selfish person. The whole chapter She was only worried about how her family looks rather than how they feel. She was so prideful that she ended up doing everything in her power to make Scout, Jem and Atticus look good that she completely neglected their morals as a family. Not only is she prideful but she's rude, she judges everyone around her including her family. Aunt Alexandrea would EVEN talk bad about Scout with Atticus, Therefore I believe that she isn't a good person.
