Overall, we noticed that when we weighed our composting system, it gained weight, even before we added food scraps. The entire time the height stayed about the same. With the weight we started with 211 grams then added food scraps bringing it to 411. After the 2nd time observing the weight went down to 409 grams. This is because we added plants like cilantro which makes it smell better It is also composted and smells more like soil. Another thing that changed is that the food and paper that we put in the project started to lose their color and decompose. The weight dropped a bit from #1 to #2, by about 7 grams, bringing it down to about 580.5 grams, but then it shot up to a whopping 645 grams for #3. We think this might be because of added compost, but we still are unsure, because it’s kind of hard to believe that some apple slices would weight about 80 grams.
