         <description><![CDATA[<div>Around 500 BC, a man named Cleisthenes became leader. Despite being a powerful aristocrat himself, he was unhappy with the current government. So, he called on the people, and with their help, Athens was finally rid of oligarchy. Cleisthenes formed an entire new form of government, democracy. He is now sometimes called the father of democracy.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Now that Cleisthenes founded democracy, ALL citizens could partake in the assembly, or a gathering of citizens that voted on laws and spoke about important issues or politics. In the assembly, everyone had the right to speak and vote. The loved hearing speeches and debates, which afterwards ended in voting by a show of hands, or sometimes a secret ballot.
