After I conducted some research, I decide to choose wild foxes to help solve my problem. There are several species of foxes, they live pretty much anywhere in the world from desserts to cities. They adapt to different environments for example foxes in winter grow a thicker fur, foxes have increased hearing sense, and they retractable claws. The main adaptation that this experiment will focus on is how they grow thick fur in the winter to adapt to the cold.

Foxes are extremely caring and intelligent animals. Mother foxes have to care for their pups when they are first born, they are unable to see, walk, or hear. Due to their increased sense of hearing foxes can help humans know when something dangerous is approaching them. Foxes can live pretty much anywhere, this means that they have to adapt what they eat, to where they live. In cities foxes have to eat the rubbish that people throw out. This helps humans by keeping the streets and environment nice and tidy. Foxes have 28 different sounds (languages) this would be extremely hopeful for humans that want to have a conversation in private during a public setting. It would be like speaking in code!

The original prototype glove was made out of nylon material, lined with cotton fabric. The problem with the prototype was that the wristband would not stay up without a cuff, and that cotton fabric is not one of the warmest materials. Therefore, it did not do a good job of mimicking the foxes winter coat.

The second prototype glove kept the nylon outer material, replaced the wrist with a cuffed wristband, and replaced the cotton fabric for waterproof fabric. This prototype gave us two layers of waterproof fabric, which would help keep the snow or rain out. The problem with this prototype was the waterproof fabric would not be very comfortable rubbing against your skin.

In the final prototype we kept all the features from the second prototype and added 100% sheep wool as the final lining. 100% wool is the warmest material made therefore, it would do an amazing job at mimicking the foxes winter coat. This prototype would be able to keep water out, allow for unlimited snow playing time, and keep your hands warm for prolonged periods of time.
