As educators, it is important to have an inviting and user-friendly online presence through platforms like Google Classroom and Google Sites. This ensures that students can remain engaged even when they're not in the physical classroom. It also invites parents/guardians to stay in touch virtually, and to stay up to date on what we're doing in class- further strengthening our ties to the community.

We can even teach our students to use Google Sites since it is an easy and free way to create webpages. Our students can also work together and create shared webpages which helps them learn tips on collaboration and design!

Educators need to be collaborating, researching, applying and revising the ways they use technology in the classroom. We also need to include students in this process. We cannot be afraid or ashamed to ask our students for help, and in fact we should be encouraging them to lead discussions and presentations on how to utilize technology. This will give them a sense of autonomy and empowerment, and will show them that learning can be a two-way street for the student and teacher.
The ISTE standards are a great way to ensure educators are up-to-date on the newest and most efficient ways to use technology. There are many resources available to us so we can learn about new and different ways to use technology in the classroom. For example, we can look to online blogs, youtube videos, social media, talk to our colleagues and so many more.

Instead of forcing students to memorize "content", students need to be given the opportunity to solve real world problems in the classroom. By equipping the students to find and create solutions during school, it allows the students to practically apply their learning when they leave school.

Students should be taught to leverage technology for their own learning and take agency in their own learning. It's not the teachers throwing technological tools at the students for them to use, but the students taking an active role in learning things that they are passionate about using the technology that is available to them.
To ensure our students are being active with their own learning, we need to create engaging and effective lessons. We must provide our students with a safe environment where they feel motivated and in control of their own learning.

Most educators, being a digital immigrant teaching digital natives, need to learn to adapt and learn to teach in ways best suitable for their students. As educators we need to recognize that the students now are different from students before and need to adapt and change how education is presented.
As educators, it is important we take the time to get to know our students and adapt to their specific needs. For example, if our students spend a large portion of their time on social media, we can create lessons or projects that incorporate the use of social media.
