What I get from the video by Mufti Menk (Seeking Knowledge)

When its come to knowledge, dont just make a doa so that you can be smarter. What you should do is find the knowledge. Nowadays, we have so many way to learn something. For example, when you want to know news about covid-19, you just need to use your search engine like google. Its not that hard, what make the knowledge hard to learn is yourself. So everything is depend on yourself.

HADITH JIBRIL

the most important Hadith in Islam.

This Hadith make me understand about Islam, Iman and Ihsan.
*Islam - submit/surrender to Allah,
*Iman - belief in heart, declaration by tongue, action by limbs(3 elements)
*Ihsan - worship Allah as if you see him for, verily, even though you do not see Him, He surely sees you.

Difference
Islam- external conduct
Iman- inner belief
Ihsan- perfection. Someone who practice Ihsan is called "Muhsin".

IMAN

Definition:
belief in heart, declaration by tongue, action by limbs.
*Iman can increase(if we do good deeds) and decrease.

Pillars of Faith

Belief in Allah.
Belief in Angels.
Belief in book of Allah.
Belief in Allah's messengers.
Belief in the Day of Judgement.
Belief in Qada' & Qadar (Doom & Divine Decree)

BELIEF IN ALLAH

Believing that Allah exists & created this universe.
Believing that god is the creator(Rabb) -Rububiyyah

-Surah Al-A'raf(verse 54)
Indeed, your Lord is Allāh, who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He covers the night with the day, [another night] chasing it rapidly; and [He created] the sun, the moon, and the stars, subjected by His command. Unquestionably, His is the creation and the command; blessed is Allāh, Lord of the worlds.

believing in Allah leads us to worship Allah.

Uluhiyyah- the only god worthy of worship & do not associate it(shirk)

Surah Al-Baqarah(verse 163)

And your God is one God! There is no god but He. He is the most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

believing that god has a names and high nature traits/noble.

-names and natures that set by himself.

#we cannot give names/natures that not stated to Allah & we cannot use names and natures.
-We have to understand names and natures according to what is described by god and his prophet

-We can't deny it, can not equate the nature of god with creatures.

2) believe in the name of angels
-10 angels that we know(belief in particular

-Others angels(belief in general)

BELIEF IN BOOK OF ALLAH
1) revealed by Allah to his chosen apostle(original book)
2) believe in books we know the name(Quran, Taurat, Injil, Zabur)
-belief in Book that we dont know the name(general)
3) allow and accept the news delivered in the book(that original/The contents are not distorted/added.
4) believe in all its contents/the law(as long as it is not deleted)

Wisdom: be reference to human being because Allah preserve the Quran until doomsday.

IMAN

BELIEF IN ALLAH'S MESSENGERS
(PROPHETS & APOSTLES)

for bringing revelation/bring a message from Allah to know Allah and worship him.(favors and blessings)

APOSTLE/MESSENGER- men chosen from among the prophets, appointed by Allah to deliver the treatise to mankind, have revelation and it is obligatory to convey revelation.

PROPHET- the man chosen by Allah to deliver the treatise to mankind, have revelation but it is not obligatory to deliver the revelation.
*First Messenger- Prophet Nuh A.S(Surah An-Nisa verse 163).
*Last Messenger- Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.

Truly convinced that God sent a messenger to every ummah to invite / teach people to worship God (all the apostles / prophets brought the same treatise and the same religion)
Believing that the message brought by the prophet and apostle is true from Allah (confident that they are honest-does not hide even 1 letter that comes from god)
Believing in god requires us to believe in prophets and messengers (believe in the prophet whose we know the name/messengers which is not mentioned/that we known or not).
Believing in messengers that Ulul Azmi (Muhammad S.A.W, Isa A.S, Ibrahim A.S, Musa A.S, Nuh A.S) Ulul Azmi- accept opposition from their people. They patient and have great perseverance.
Demanding to do good deeds with the law(Sharia-Islamic law) brought by the messengers / prophets.

-follow command / stay away from prohibition based on the sunnah.
-They(prophets and messengers) "maksum"(free from error)
- Make them as our role model(Qudwah Hasanah)

BELIEF IN THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT (definitely happens)

Believing in the resurrection day. (the world will not last and will be destroyed)

*Surah Al-Mu'minun verse 15-16-After that you will surely die. Then on the Day of Judgment you will be resurrected.
2. Believing in hisab (calculation) and azab (retribution)
3. Believe in heaven and hell.
4. Believing in all the events that will take place after someone dies ( 1. the existence of the torment of the grave, 2. believe in existence of grave pleasure, 3. believe in existence of grave slander)

BELIEF IN QADA' & QADAR

Believing that Allah knows with his knowledge about something (everything that happens in the knowledge of Allah).
Believing that god has written in Luh Manfuz (note of destiny) a person until the Day of Judgment.
Believing that God’s will encompasses everything.
Believing that the creation of god encompasses things that already exist or do not yet exist.

IHSAN

CATEGORIES OF IHSAN BY SCHOLARS(ULAMA)

Ihsan in worship between servant and his god.
Ihsan between a servant and other creatures of God. (Surah Al-Baqarah verse 195) -do good -refrain from hurting / endangering them.
Do something perfectly & earnestly.

ESCHATOLOGY
KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE AFTERLIFE.

Sign of The Day Of Judgement In Hadith Jibril:

A female slave who gave birth to her master(rebellious child)
Barefoot, naked, poor and Shepherd racing to build tall buildings.

-these signs add the the servant's confidence in Allah.
-increase pious deeds/good deed
-raise awareness of the Day of Judgment (avoid humans becoming default)

PRAYER

Al-Ankabut(45)
prayer prevents abominable and evil deeds

~Fahsya'(ourself ,physical)-exp: adultary, drinking alcohol

~Munkar(inner, spiritual, contrary to the creed as a Muslim) - shirk, fasik(misguidance)

How?

Not all prayer can prevent from vile and evil things.

Only perfect prayer(solat) able to prevent from vile and evil things.

Perfect solat:
1. solat that meet/follow pillars of prayer, fulfill the requirement and other sunat in solat.
2. devout(khusyuk) prayers.

3. sincere in solat.

4. fear followed by the glorification of Allah.

5. remember Allah when praying.

Not forced, do not pray in a state of mind remembering the world

FASTING

Al-Baqarah(183)

* Get Taqwa

-Taqwa mean we fear Allah by carrying out all His commands and stay away from all His prohibitions.

-Like when we fast, we also have taqwa because fasting means we refrain ourself from something that cancel the fast.

-train yourself close to god by staying away from all the things that our lusts like reduce vice and sin.

-increase worship and obedience to Allah (tarawih prayers)

remember those who poor- keinsafan

ZAKAT

-cleanse and purify them from sin and bad nature.

-prevent from liking excessive wealth.

-Give Zakat can increase wealth not reduce it.

-IF NOT IN THIS WORLD ALLAH WILL INCREASE IT IN THE HEREAFTER.

HAJI

it is obligatory to take care of all things that can damage or reduce the reward of Hajj

3 things that can reduce the reward of Hajj:

· Rafas -speech/words that lead to immoral words related to women, sexual intercourse(jimak) and so on

· Fasik - acts of immorality that bring to sin (slander) that we like to do

· Jidal - quarrels, baseless debates (things that should not be debated/made as an issue)

-Preventing oneself from acts forbidden by Allah

-If we can prevent ourselves(from doing the 3 things that can reduce the reward of Hajj) during the Hajj period then we can leave it after performing the Hajj.

PREPARATION FOR SALAH WITH KHUSYU'

Khusyu' : gentleness, serenity, submission/humility to Allah.

ABLUTION(WUDU)AND PURIFICATION

a good and perfect ablution can obtain a devout prayer

Ablution: 1)from major hadas

2)from excrement

#If we perform Salah in a dirty place/we wear dirty clothes, we will feel uncomfortable. We tend to lost our focus and khusyu' if we feel uncomfortable.

Ablution can remove our sin(Abu Hurairah)

Application of rukhsah in ablution:

1- sick people must clean themselves using water if they can

2- if he cannot cleanse himself with water for fear of adding to the pain or making the process of healing take longer, he can perform tayammum

3- if unable to clean himself, others can clean or perform tayammum for the sick person

OBLIGATORY AND VALID CONDITIONS OF PRAYER

Obligatory condition is a condition that makes something obligatory.

obligatory conditions of prayer: -Islam, puberty(Baligh), sensible, sacred from menstruation and childbirth for women.

Valid condition is a condition that determines the validity of a prayer.

valid conditions of prayer:

-covering the aurat, confident of entering the time of prayer, facing the Qibla, pure from small and large hadas.

PILLARS OF PRAYER(13)

Rukun Qalbi: 1- Intention(niat)

Rukun Qauli: 1- Takbiratulihram

2- Read Al-Fatihah(dont read in the heart & read clearly

3- Read the final tahiyat

4- Salawat upon the prophet in the final tahiyat

5- to greet(salam)

Rukun Fi'li: 1- stand up straight

2- Rukuk and tamakninah

3- iktidal as well as tamakninah

4- prostrate 2 times and tamakninah

5- sitting between two prostrations and also tamakninah

6- sitting the final tahiyat

7- orderly

APPLICATION OF PRAYER ACCORDING TO THE SITUATION(RUKHSAH)

Meaning of rukhsah: simplify / alleviate

Examples of rukhsah:

Qasar : shoren

{For traveler}

Jama' : collect

{For sick}

Nawaf : circumcision prayers(solat sunat){accommodate the lack of obligatory prayers.}

INTENTION IN PRACTICE(IBADAH)

"Verily actions are by intentions, and for every person is what he intended. So the one whose hijrah was to Allah and His Messenger, then his hijrah was to Allah and His Messenger. And the one whose hijrah was for the world to gain from it, or a woman to marry her, then his hijrah was to what he made hijrah for.”

HOW TO GAIN WISDOM/POSITIVE VALUES IN DAILY WORSHIP(3 WAYS)

1. Set the right intention during worship.
2. Performing worship(ibadah) in the right way.

a person who have mujahadah is a person who is earnestly approaching Allah.

This is because the source of khusyu' is the heart that has faith, taqwa and ihsan.

REMINDS US TO ALWAYS BE THOUGHTFUL
(BERMUHASABAH)

People who are always considerate/thoughtful are people who:
- meet all the terms and principles that require in prayer.
- always evaluate his worship
- observe and improve his worship if there are deficiencies

GOT IFFAH

Iffah is a person who refrains/ abstains from matters of immorality and the prohibitions of Allah.
- perfect prayer will keep us from committing sin so prays with khusyu' will create iffah in us.

MAKES US TAWADHU' IN LIFE

tawadhu' is humble and not arrogant.

- the person who prays with khusyu' causes him to have tawadhu'.

- prayer is a sign of our humility to Allah, so with prayer we have tawadhu'.

PATIENT

patient=fasting
--> refrain
وَالصَّوْمُ نِصْفُ الصَّبْرِ

Hadith Al- Tirmizi: fasting is half of patience.
people who fast patiently = people who are pious(bertaqwa) which is follow Allah's command.

Al-Iman Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali:
3 types of patience:
1) patient in obeying Allah- the obligation to fast
2) patient from doing things that Allah forbids- things that are forbidden during fasting such as appetite, backbiting.
3) patient of all calamities(disaster) that come- calamities such as hunger, thirst, weak body
#All three of these patiences are present during fasting.

وقال مجاهد : الصبر : الصوم ، والصوم : صبر ، لأنه إمساك عن الطعام ، وسمي رمضان : شهر الصبر

"Imam Mujahid said: 'Patience is fasting, and fasting is patience, because fasting means abstaining from eating and drinking.
(So, importantly) the month of Ramadan is called the month of patience".

TAKRIM

Glorify/respect
Ramadhan as a glorious month(lailatul qadr night).

stay away from bad things.
for example; even if you can't fast (sick / period), we need to respect other people who fast by not eating in front of him->So that no slander arises.
People who fast also need to respect people who do not fast.

RAHMAH

donations, to feed the poor, zakat fitrah (obligatory), taste what the poor taste.

Hadith Al-Baihaqi; Rasulullah said:

At the beginning of Ramadan, God saw my people. Whoever is seen by God, then he will not be tormented forever.
The smell of the mouth of a fasting person, in the sight of Allah is better than the smell of mystical oil (musk).
Angels beg forgiveness for my people, day and night.
God instructs the guardians of heaven to decorate heaven for those who fast.
At the end of the night of Ramadan Allah forgives all their sins.

THE VIRTUES FOUND IN ZAKAH/SADAQAH

ZAKAH

=holy, clean, blessing.
obligatory for people who meet the condition.
in the quran, Allah also uses the terms alms and infaq to express zakat.

5 categories of property zakat:

Gold zakat
Silver zakat
Business zakat
Livestock zakat
Agricultural zakat

TAWAKKUL

Tawakkul: surrender to Allah
Sure/confident that God replaces the property we sacrifice with something better.

Convinced/confident that sustenance is determined by Allah.
The actual amount of our property is the quantity we give/donate to others. The rest of our property is useless in the hereafter.

THE WISDOM OF ZAKAT: UKHUWAH

helping fellow human beings can strengthen human brotherhood/ukhuwah.
through zakat, people who can afford it can help people who are less able by giving money/food/clothes and so on.
Especially can help fellow Muslims. It is the responsibility of Muslims to help fellow Muslims.
Zakat will erase the envy and the gap between the rich and the poor. Example of envy: The poor will feel jealous because they are not endowed with sustenance like the rich. The rich will think that the poor are lazy.

HAJJ

Heading to the House/Baitullah and certain places to perform certain acts of worship.
The fifth pillar of Islam must be fulfilled by every Muslim when they meet the conditions.
Hajj became obligatory in the sixth year of the Hijrah after the revelation from Allah.
Hajj can be performed repeatedly for those who have the ability and sufficient conditions.

Hajj combines the two important elements between prayer, fasting and zakat, which requires physical worship and property worship.

Among the conditions of Hajj:

Muslim
Baligh/puberty
Sensible
Independent
Afford

SACRIFICE

Energy
Comfort (not going to be comfort like when you at home)
Money (a lot of money spend to travel to other country)
Time

Above make Hajj different than other ibadah/worship.

PIETY

Ibn Athaillah: Taqwa divided into 2.
1. Outwardly(zahir) -
maintain limits and boundaries.
2. Inward/inner(batin) - with intention and sincerity.

Conclusion

making a person do amar ma'ruf and nahi munkar.
Taqarrub(draw closer to Allah)
Also, state in Quran that someone that have piety is a noble person in the sight of Allah and piety that make the amal/worship of Muslim accepted (Al-Maidah, 27)

All my Usrah member/friends are easy to work with. And easily be friends with everyone.

Hope that everyone share what they understand & their knowledge. Also, maybe story like Sirah and others.

We can create last memory in foundation together. Even not face to face but we all know Usrah is not major subject so its more light. Not stress like other subject  but important and of course.

Also, wish that I can meet with my usrah friends in degree later. For those that futher their degree at IIUM in campus Gombak and Kuantan, we might not be able to meet at campus. But I hope each of you doing fine always. FIGHTING
