Throughout the years, Canada has got themselves involved in International Trade. The values in the table below represent the trade increases throughout the years. For instance from 1987 to 1997 there was an increase in trade by a total of 118%. This mean that in 1997 alone we had a trade value of over 415 billion dollars when compared to the 191 billion of dollars we traded in 1987. Again in 2007, there was a 95% increase in trade which brought in 808 billion dollars in trade. Regardless to say, we can clearly see that the world we live in thrives constantly trading with other countries so that we can create more drives and therefore, benefit the economy. In the 20 years recorded by the chart our GDP increased to 62%.

Image #1

The website below provides a brief history of Globalization, how the political, trade and cultural factors affected Globalization and about how some people were opposed to the idea.

In my opinion, Globalization has provided the world with the opportunity to take different things from different cultures and allow for us to enjoy some of those items in our very own country. For instance, trading with a company that is well known for providing the best quality automobile parts in the world is based in Germany. Thanks to Globalization and trading polices we are able to obtain that high quality product even though we live in Canada. The same situation can happen vice-versa where Germany requires winter tires and the best distributor happens to be in Canada.

Website #1: http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/globalization/

In the world we live in today. Globalization affects many different types of businesses and countries economy. A company will outsource their manufacturing to another country if it will cut costs in their current country. The positives of this is taken in by both the company and the economy of which the manufacturing plant has been moved to. The new plant creates new jobs in that country which therefore can help improve the living conditions, increase trade and reduce the poverty.

Video #1

One of the major controversy surrounding Trade Policy's today are the various of legalities that may come with businesses and their partnerships with the country's government. Due to this partnerships, businesses are identifying with the idea that the government can be sued the same way a business can. With Canada's new Trade Law that is up for debate can make it possible that we may end up having to pay out the government.

Video #2

While NAFTA may be the biggest trade agreement across the globe. It has not stopped Canada from making new agreements with other countries. By doing so, Canada is creating a competitive environment for businesses to compete in on an international level. This is to create the opportunity for companies to reach out with one another and to find ways to grow and assist with the current country's economic standards.

Website #2: http://www.international.gc.ca/trade-agreements-accords-commerciaux/index.aspx?lang=eng

As much as there are many trade rights placed out by many different countries to encourage international business. There are some barriers that come into place to create a restraint on the amount of business done outside of the country. An example of a trade barrier would be a tariff. A tariff is a tax placed upon imported goods. The higher the tariff the lower the amount of imports for that specified timeline. The lower the cost of tariffs the higher the amount of imports that will come into the country. This is also known as the Balance of Trade.

Image #3

There are many trade-offs in Globalization. Like previously stated by moving a manufacturing plant to a foreign country will help boost their economy, it will leave the home country's economy weaker. This is because they have taken the jobs they could have offered to their home country citizens and have passed it off to another country's citizens. Therefore, increasing the GDP and dollar value of that country while decreasing their own in the process.

Video #3

One of the many effects of Globalization is the clash between many different types of cultures. Thanks to globalization we are able to live in a world where we are able to order products from China online and have it shipped over to our desired destination within a week. We are able to experience various of cultures such as Japanese restaurants and Mexican grills all within the confines our own home. To conclude, Globalization is a gift and a curse. It grants us with man advantages as well as many disadvantages. In order to continue growing we will need to continue to improve globalization as time progresses.

Website #3: https://www.globalpolicy.org/component/content/article/162/27607.html
