1. The author wrote this to show how even if someone has a different way of doing something, it doesn't mean their way is wrong.
2. I think this because the author thought the family across the street was weird because they didn't have TV. But, in the end they were no different.
3. The author shows how in the beginning, alot of jokes made by teachers & conversations were revolved around television shows, but then he sees that the family was an average family & they didn't need the tv.
3. This helped us see how everything was different then how a "normal" person would view it. The "un-normal" was actually perfectly "normal"

I agree with the author. Just because you don't like the way someone does something, it doesn't mean their way is wrong.

1) The author wrote this to show how many people live in different ways, but none of them are incorect. No one should be judged by the way they live; is something the author also tries to tell us.
2) The author tries to persuade the readers that even if you don't live like anyone else, it doesn't mean you're living the wrong way. He also tries to convince the readers that just because one family doesn't have something you have, you shouldn't judge them because you don't know how they really are.
3) I know this because one of the families on the block supposedly seemed wierd. They didn't have a tv and they didn't know some basic facts about life. However, in the end, when the main character actually got to know that family, they realized that that family was average after all. They were just like everyone else on the block.
4) This shows us that even if some people are a little different, they should not be known a wierd. They shouldn't be judged by the way they act, either.

I agree with this author, even since the family in the story hadn't even met their neighbor. In no way should they have been judged before interacting with them.

The girl was watching them and snooping around in their backyard.
4)This helped us understand that the other family is also normal because they were doing things that everyone would do. They also had a boat and a lake house which shows how they are normal.
I agree with the author because if someone does something different from you, people should not think that they are wrong and different in a bad way.

People like to listen to stereotypes and assume things about people but they're usually wrong.

1. The author wrote this to show us that many other people can be different but you shouldn't treat them differently than anyone else because of their differences.
2. The author is trying to convince me to not judge other people because of who they are and what they do. The author is trying to convince me that they should be treated like there is not a major difference between myself and them. Even if they are different, that shouldn't matter.
3. I know this because it showed how the main character judged the Tomkeys family based on their differences which was not having any television and trick or treating a day late. When they came to her or his house for candy, he or she tried to eat all of it so that they will get none. The main character also found them so interesting that he or she spied on them pretty much because of how different they were.
4. The author proves this point to me by showing me the things above in the story and by demonstrating how the narrator is treating the Tomkeys. Also, she doesn't even acknowledge them when she sees them because of their differences!

I agree with the author that we should not judge other people and treat them differently. They are human beings too and deserve to be treated nicely just as you would want someone else to treat you. This saying is common but not many people follow it when you should! Treat people the way you would like to be treated. I'm sure you would not want to be judged and be treated unfairly and badly. Everyone should treat each other nicely and set aside our differences or just accept them! Our differences are what makes us unique after all!

1) The author wrote this story to teach a lessson. To teach that you shouldn't judge someone until you understand who they are.
2) The author is trying to dissuade me of judging a book by its cover. You never know what lies from cover to cover until you look.
3) I'm aware of this because throughout the story, a boy is intrigued yet disgusted by his neighbors that don't own a TV. He thinks they are strange people because the narrator relied on a TV to teach him what the normal way of life is.
4) The author's supports this by POV. One moment was when the boy realized his neighbors, The Tomkeys, ate dinner just when everyone was cleaning the last dishes. He also saw them actually sitting and talking at the table, which was weird to him. He assumed that if they had a TV, they would be able to keep track of time and not have to socialize and eat.

I agree with the author because he narrator didn't give them a real chance. If I were in this situation, even if I would be gone by next year, I would try to become friends with them since they peek my curiosity. I wouldn't watch them with curiosity and hatred unless I was friendly and they completely and continuously neglect my greeting. I always find it very hard to judge someone if I don't know the slightest bit of their personality.
