Nguyễn Hà An

Task 1:

The first bar chart illustrates the percentage of 14 - to 16 - year - old students who studied a foreign language in an English speaking country while the second bar chart shows the top three languages studied by students from 1984 to 2007

It is clear that the proportion of girl students who studied a foreign language is more than boys. In the second graph, French was the highest language choice that students choose to study while Spanish was the lowest figure. In both graphs, there was a decrease in all figures except German and Spanish in the second graph.

As the first graph shows that from 1984 to 2007, the percentage of girls who studied language decreased erom approximately 50% to 40%. The proportion of boy students who studied a foreign language went down nearly 5%, from 30% to 25%. However, the percentage of girl students always higher than boys from 15% to 20%.

In the second graph, French was the highest choice among the students from 1984 to 2007. However, there was a decrease nearly 15%, from 50% to nearly 30% in French. In contrast, German and Spanish both increased but there was a difference between them. German increased from 20% to nearly 50%. The percentage of students who choose Spanish to study rose nearly twice as much, from nearly 5% to 10%.

Task 2:

There is a debate about university students should live with their family or live far away from them during university. From my perspective, the advantages of living far away from home can not outweigh the disadvantages while they study university

First of all, it is not safe for university students to live far away from their family. Nowadays, there is an increase in crime rate so students who live alone can be in danger in anytime. Moreover, when there is a problem, alone students can not call anyone for help immediately, especially at night when everyone goes to sleep. For example, there are a lot of parents who sent their sons or daughters study far from where they live and then thấy can not find their sons or daughters forever. It is very dangerous for parents to allow their children attend university far away from their family. Living far away can make parents feel more worried when they can not call because they do not know where their children and what happened to them.

Secondly, it is more comfortable for students to study near where they live. They will feel more familiar with something they live with. Moreover, if they need or feel uncomfortable, family always near and encourage them The city where they live from childhood always the place they feel most familiar with. It is very convenient for students to attend the university near where they live.

In conclusion, students should choose a university near Where they live because good university is everywhere so choose a near-by university for safety and convenient.

task 2

in many countries, university education is one of most important experience for everyone to havr sustainable-paying job. some people believe that student should live with their parents while they focus on studying university. others argue that, each student should learn life skill from living independently. in my point of view, there are much more benefit from living away from family than the disadvantages.

there are many advantage for student when they live away from home, they can learn many lessons from community. firstly, when student live far from home they must do their chores, cooking them self but still have to finish homework, this will enchance self-indepent skill which is essential for their life in the future. secondly, every student have to plan a daily schedule to balance chores homework and self-care, if they cant manage their time sutably, they cant take care of themself or persuade their hobbies. in addition, university school is considered a minimized community, student must learn how to communicate, make new friend and build relationships which can help them in many aspect in daily life.

there are also disadvantages when student live independently. students still are young adults they dont have much much experience to solve their problem, most of them will ward off from problem instead of finding solution to face-to-face it. while studying, there are many disagreement will cause arguement between student and student, student and teacher, they have to find the solution to mediate their relationships. working without a schedule can make many mistake, missing or even cant pass the exam which can cause stress and damage mental health. making friends also crucial for student, if they cant communicate with other people, they will have no one to share or help them in learning

Task 2.

College students in some nations choose to stay with their families during their studies. Other nations’ students live far from home to pursue their education. In my opinion, the benefits of moving to another city for university overshadow its drawbacks.

To begin with, moving away from home during college years may require a huge amount of fees. When the students in another city from their houses, they will have to handle extra accommodation fees, such as housing, gas, taxes, water and internet bills. This can be a burden to many families’ financial, since the school fees are already expensive. However, this can be tackle if students can get part time jobs to ease the financial burden on their families.

On the other hand, attending college in another city can benefit students in many ways, offering them more opportunities and fostering self development. If the students are allowed to study away from home, they will be provided with a variety of schools to choose from, helping them to follow what they truly aspire for. With more choices of education, students can easily reach out for chances in jobs, further education and scholarships. Additionally, living without their families stimulate students to be independent both financially and mentally, leaving spaces for their own development. Therefore, students will already have skills and experiences to deal with their life after graduation.

In conclusion, although studying far from home in university years can be pricey. its advantages still outweigh the disadvantages since it will open mote opportunities and foster students’ independence .

  1)

The bar charts illustrates the percentage of 14-to 16-year-old students studying a foreign language in 1984 and 2007. Overall, between 1984 and 2007, French was the most studied language out of all three.

The percentage of girls studying a foreign language was almost 50% in 1984, while the boys was only 30%. For the next 23 years, the percentage of students studying a foreign language decreased, the number of girls who studied a foreign language went down by 10%, while the boys slightly decreased by 5%.

French, the most studied language out of all three between 1984 and 2007, with the percentages in 1984 and 2007 of 50% and over 30% respectively. The number of students studying German had a slight rise from 20% to around 25%, while the percentage of Spanish mirrored the trend but at the higher extend, from under 5% to 10%.

  2)

University students don’t study abroad to live at home with their family in many countries. While others decide to live away from home to attend university. I think the benefits of living away from home during university out-weight the disadvantages.

What makes this increasingly beneficial is that living away from home helps students to become matured. Their maturity helps them to learn about life and grow themselves up. Because of that, their life will be more safer and more peaceful. Once they grow up to become adults, they will teach the next generations.

Secondly, living away from home allows university students to find good university environments. From that, they will have good places for them to study, or research for the future development. Not only that, this allows them to have a life-changing that can be suitable for them.

In conclusion, from the two reasons that are mentioned above, I completely agree that the benefits of living away from home during university outweigh the disadvantages.

Đức Phú

Task2:

Students who are studying at university live with their family whie they

learn in some countres, however,

in other countries, students are believed to attend university in other city. There are benefits of studying far from home such as students have a chance to both enhance knowledge and discover the new place they live, I think advantages can outweigh the drawbacks since there are only mental problems they may face up to.

Studying and living away from home have been one of students's dreams. It is a big chance for them to explore the new habitat, make friend with other students in university. They are not in charge by their parents which make them more comfontable and do what they want. University is a step - stone that helps students opportunity for them to show their talents, potential when they study in another city. They are still young and there are many doors waiting for them to open, this is the great time to unlock themselves, learn new skills. However, it is not easy for a person to get rid of their hometown, family, friends. Furthermore, students can be bullied by others in new habitat, they can be scammed by bad people on the streets. At this time, they are only alone and this may cause to worse cases.Recently, there are many newspapers, audio talk about these problems and some cases lead to death. But as I said, if they get through of these suddens, they can reach a new goal in their career. Nothing in the world is free and easy, they need to adapt every single day. That is how stones shaped into diamonds.

Task 1 :

The two bar charts illustrate the proportion of 14 to 16 year old students learning another language in an country which English is the main and also show the top three foreign languages.

Overall, students studying foregin language are devided in two genders and girls were the one who outpaced boys in both 1984 and 2007. French was the most spoken and learning foreign languege while Spanish was

the least.

As the graphs show , in 1984, about 50% of girls and 30% of boys learning

a foreign language. Therefore, the proportion of students learning French accounted for 50% which higher than two times of that on studying German. Spanish seemed not to be recommended at this time.

In 2007 ,about 40% of girls and over 25% of boys learned foreign language, which were reduced about 10%. In the mean time , the proportion of students speaking French was decreased to 35% while that on studying German increased to nearly 25% .

Gia Bảo

   Task 2:

University students live with their family at home while they study is a popular trend in some countries. In contrast, students have to attend university far from home in other countries. As far as I know, going to another city to attend university is a way to develop students’s independent, which can help them gain more experience for the future.

As a result, i think learning far from home brings a lot of advantages which outweigh the dawbacks.

Living away from home during university not only make students grow us, improve soft skills but also give them a chance to explore the world. Firstly, learning and living without family will boost university students self-care ability. For instance, they have to learn how to cook, manage their money to pay for the bills and especially make them stronger to suffer from difficulties. Students who have to, raise themselves alone have a tougher metality than others .. Secondly,

staying in a strange area may help student explore and find out many new habits in life. When travel to another city, students will have a big chance to learn others cultural on the grounds that they can achieved more goals in life by the life lessons

On the other hand, living far from home causes many challenges such as lack of emotion sharing, harder in communicate, and they don't have anybody to take care when suffering from illness. Although those disadvantages, studying in another city still be a better decision for university students. The lesson and opportunities to travel during university are priceless for young people which help them successful in their future careers.

___________________________________

   Task 1:

The first bar chart illustrates the percentage of students who learnt another language in an English speaking country while the second one demonstrates the top three languges studied by students.

Overall, the quantity of girls studied a foreign language higher than boys between 1984 and 2007. In the same period, French was the most common choice, which followed by German and Spanish.

As the first chart shows, the propation of girls learnt a foreign language decreased slightly by 10% from about 50% in 1984 to 2007. Boys's figure mirrored the

trend with a lower extent, regarding 30% in 1984 dropped to 26% in 2007. The second chart illustates that the percentage of students learnt French in 1984 was about two folds bigger than German and ten times bigger than Spanish. In more details, French's figure stood at 50% while German made up at 20%, and Spanish at 5% In 2007, the proportion of students studied french was fell to about 33%. In contrast, the number of students learnt German and Spanish increased to 20% for the former and 10% for the later in 2007.

task 2:

In many countries, students of university live at home with their family while they study, in the other sides, some students choose to study in another city and live away from home. In my perspective, I think the advantages of living far from home during university outweight the drawbacks

In nowadays, the life getting modern, society is become develop. And students live at their home with family, they will be study but the students who live alone will not have the safety. For instance, they was trap by someone, they got sick and no one by their side or when they got the trouble and they just be alone. However, they had to get over it and learnt a lot of lessons that students live at home with family can not have. After all, the drawbacks would become the advantages for their life skill, their behaviour and it would bring many benefits for their future.

Live away from home gave students lots of advantages. For example, they can control thei time, improve their responsible, independent, do everything they want. Many people who study university in the another city after 4 years study, they had a big change: first, it is their mindset was mature; second, they have lots of experience about their subject and especial about life… And all of it would be come a benefit for they when they want to get a job or start up.

In conclusion, the benefits of living away from home during university outweight the drawbacks.

Task 1:
There are two tables had shown the percentage of 14-to 16-year-old students studying a different language in an English country, and the top three foreign languages.

In 1984, the percentage of girls who studied a foreign language stood at nearly 50% and that of boys was totally 30%. But in 2007, the proportion of students who studied different language in an English country decreased slightly. Obviously, in 2007, the proportion of girls studying a foreign language decreased to 40% and that of boys declined estimately 35%.

In 1984, clearly that French was the first top of language that student studied stood at 50%, the second was German with 20%, and the last one was Spanish with small than 5%. However, in 2007, French had a big change, decreased rapidly to estimate 35%, German had a slight increase at nearly 25% and Spanish rose to 10%.

In conclusion, with two bar charts below, obviously the percentage of girls who studied a foreign language always higher than that of boys in two years. And, clearly, French always was the first top in top 3 languages studied by students.

Task 2

There are a number of college students deciding to stay with their family and choose a nearby university for studying. While other students make a decision of attending university far away from their home, even in another city. From my point of view, I believe that the students who choose to live away from home during university gain more advantages than disadvantages.

First of all, when lving alone somewhere else from home, university students may learn certain selfcare skills that are needed in the future. As they have to live in another place, far from their parents-who usually get an eye on them, students will must take full care of them selves. They will have to cook everyday meals on their own, do all other household chores such as cleaning the floor, washing the clothes.... by themselves. Handling all that works on their own will prepare them for an independent life in the future, without having a struggling time adapting immediately.

On the other hand, the disadvantage of studying in a distant university and have to move out from home is that students can feel especially depressed. When going to university, students not only have to concentrate on their study most of their time and finish their deadlines at home, but now when they live alone, they may have more worries about money and self health. For example, when people suddenly have illnesses, there is no one by their side in that certain situation so they will have to handle it themselves and even being careful of missing out their study and not to be left behind from other students. That is especially depressing.

In conclusion, there are both benefits and

drawbacks of living far away from home to attend university. But living alone like that will help students be self- indipendent and prepare them for future lives .

Task 1

The first bar chart illustrates the percentage of students in the age of 14 to l6 who studied a second language besides English in certain country in 1884 and 2007. And the

second bar chart shows the languages that are in top 3 of what most chosen during that same time.

Overall, it is shown in the first bar chart that the number of boys and girls students studying a foreign language witness a downward trend from 1984 to 2007. Moreover, the rate of girls who studied another language outweigh the boys in both years. And in the second chart, it is demonstrated that French is the most chosen language by students, outweighing German and Spanish in top three. However, while German and Spanish have an increase in number of students choosing in 1984 and 2007, French remarkably decreases in that same period.

First of all, in the first bar chart, the percentage of female students studying a foreign language have seen a decrease from almost 50% in 1984 to 40% in 2007. In addition, the number of boys also

decrease 4% from 30% to 26% during 1984 and 2007. In 1984, the percentage of girls who studied a second language is higher than boys of about almost 20% in total. And in 2007, the percentage has changed to about 14%.

Besides, the second shart shows that the number of people choosing French have dropped from 50% to 34% between 1984 and 2007. However, German and Spanish have a different experience when German have increased about 4% and Spanish has risen from 4% to 10% in this period. Moreover, French always has the highest percentage of being chosen which is 50% in 1984 and 34% in 2007.

French was the most chosen language, while Spanish had the lowest percentage of students who chose to study.

As the first graph shows, the percentage of girls who studied a foreign language was higher than the figure for boys in 1984, the former was about 49% and the latter was 30%. In 2007, the figure for girls decreased by over 10%, was about 40%. The proportion of boys who studied a foreign language followed the trend, though to a lower extent, from 30% to about 25% between 1984 and 2007.

French was the most favourite foreign language to students between 1984 and 2007, while Spanish had the lowest choice by students. In 1984, the percentage of students who studied French was 50%, then it dropped to about 34% in 2007, but it is still the highest over the years. Next came the figure for German, which was 20% in 1984 and increased slightly by over 3% in 2007. The figure for Spanish was the lowest, which was about 4% in 1984 and rose to 10% in 2007.

Task 2

In some countries students live at home with their family when they go to university, whereas in other countries students tend to choose the university which is not in the same city to study and live away from home. In my opinion, both of living independently and living at home have benefits for students, nothing outweighs the other.

To commence with, students who live at home with their families have been supported by their parents a lot. They do not need to pay for renting a house, which is a huge amount of money. Additionally, they can get the support of their families easily. For example, when they suddenly be sick, their families will take care of them instead of being alone. Moreover, living at home is so comfortable and familiar with students because they have lived here for a long time, they do not need to change their lifestyle in a new environment.

Living away from home during university can help students improve themself. They will learn a lot of life skills when they live alone and get more independant. The biggest difference between living at home and living away from home is that they can easily do whatever they want, they are not under their parents' control. For example, students who live away from home can improve their money management skills because they have a lot of different fees to pay.

In conclusion, both of living at home and living away from home have advantages and disadvantages for students. They need to choose what is the most suitable choice for them.

Task 2:

There is an ongoing debate over the advantages for university students of not living with their family. In my personal stance, I believe that the benefits of living away from home outweigh the drawbacks.

Firstly, students do not have their parents by their sides while living away from home. As a university student, one may have to deal with a large number of exams and assignments, which causes them to have less time to take care of themselves. That is the reason why when they do not stay at home, they cannot depend on their parents, who cook, do houseworks and even look after them when they are sick. Secondly, staying alone may not ensure the students’ safety. Going to a new place will have many seductions for students, especially those who scarcely live away from their family. Consequently, students will easily get seduced, which may threaten their safety.

On the other hand, attending university in another city teaches students to live independently. Students will have their own family in the future, when they have to take care of everything. Therefore, the time when they do not stay with their family will help them to learn how to look after themselves or their friends if they live in dorms, which will lead them to an independent lifestyle. Moreover, living in other places provides students opportunities to explore and travel more. For example, when moving to other cities or foreign countries, students will get chances to meet up new people, find out new cultures and living styles of that place, which help them to broaden their knowledge and experience.

In conclusion, although it may cause some disadvantages for students, the benefit of living away from home outweighs the drawbacks, as it helps students to be more independent and have a chance to experience more.

Task 1: The two bar charts illustrate the percentage of 14-to 16-year-old pupils learning a new language in a country whose people spoke English between 1984 and 2007. The charts also point out the top three languages being chosen by students. Overall, most of the English-speaking students, who took up a foreign language, were males. The languages they chose to learn were mostly in Latin, the same forms as English, such as French, German and Spanish in the decreasing order of bias. As the first chart shows, male learners of a second language accounted for a peak of around 50% of the students in 1984, nearly doubling such percentage recorded for female ones. The datasets in 2007 mirrored the trend, though to a lower level, with approximately 40% of boys and almost 30% of girls learning a new language. Of the three-most-chosen languages to study by pupils from 1984 to 2007, those students would like to study French the most, with around 50% in 1984. Next came the percentage of boys and girls taking up German as a second language, having more than half of those learning French; and Spanish was the final option for a new language with only about 5% of the learners.

Task 2: In some parts of the world, university students live with family at home while studying, whereas in other countries, students move to another city to enroll in university. From my perspective, I agree that living away from home for university brings more pros than cons. One of the advantages of moving to other regions is providing students with independence. When living alone, university learners tend to take care of themselves due to the lack of care from parents or relatives. Those students have to take up cooking, cleaning and managing money, which are helpful skills for future preparation. Furthermore, living away from home also helps students understand more about a variety of cultures and experiences. In their far-from-home life, learners may be able to meet and make new friends from different countries, who are always ready to tell them stories about the cultures or let them try the activities of those regions. To conclude

In 1984, the percentage of girls was nearly 50% while boys was 30%. Then, in 2007, the proportion of girls studying a foreign language was gone down to 40% and boys had just a little more than 25%.

In the second graphs, the percentage of students who study France was decreased from 50% to nearly 35%. While both proportion of them who study German and Spanish were both increased. German increased by 5% from 20% to 25% and Spanish experienced a two fold increase form 5% to 10%.

task 2

In today's world, people have many choices for their university life, but they almost devided into two groups. It teaches students to do everything without their family’s helping and make them become more independent and responsible. Besides, studying in another city allows students to meet a lot of people from different regions which can help them experience new cultures and broaden their perspectives. This also provides more opportunities to build friendships and professional connections.

In the others hand, living away form home still have problem. Students can feel homesick when they first moved away. This can be a very bad emotional challenging for those who not used to live independently.

While living away from home comes with challenges, this experience still invaluable with personal growth and social opportunities.

Nguyễn Duy Linh

Task 1:

As the first charts shows, we can clearly see that the percentage of girls who learn foreign language is surpass the other students in both 1984 and 2007. In 1984, the percentage of girls who learn the foreign language is nearly 50% while boys who learn this type of language are approximately 30%. Back in 2007, the percentage of female who kept follow this type of language has dropped about 10 to, which is nearly 40% left. Moreover, the number of male learners in this field has slightly decreased, but still nearly 30%. These percentages has showed us that the number of students who is interested and followed this subject throughout time is decreasing slowly.

Moving on to the next bar charts, we can easily see that French is outweigh the Moving other languages that is German and Spanish, which is approximately 50%, more than 30% and 40% compare to two of these languages. As the time fades, in 2007, the percentage of students who learnt French has dramaticaly dropped for 50% to oppoximately 30%, which is a low rate of people who learn French from the past 20 years. Beside that, the percentages of learners who learn German and Spanish have been increased sequentially to more than 30% and

nearly 10%.

To sum up, these bar charts have showed us the exact rate of the propotion of 14-to-16-year-old and the top three foreign languages from 1984 to 2007. These percentages have reflected all the changes of each field throughout years, giving us a clear look these two of these topics.

Task 2:

As the education develops, there are more universities that are established to educate students with high level of knowledge and a special learning session, which can stimulate students' discipline and make their schedule more effective However, most top universities in some countries are located in that country's capital, which prevent learners who has a long distance to that college to attend. Therefore, there is a debate over whether students should live at home while they study or attend that university in another city. For my perspective, the benefit of living away from home during university outweigh the disadvantages.

First of all, one of the advantages from living away from home during university is that it can boost learners self-independent, which is not only crucial to students, but peoples in daily life. As students have their self-independent, they will know how to care of themself, such as daily meals, time management, protect themself from illness, money saving, and more than that. In addition, self-independent plays an important role to their lives, also, it can make leaners who is still a teenager, more mature and more careful when facing to variety of situations in life.

Secondly, living away from home during the learning session is a good way to build their personalities. When they meet and communicate with their new colleagues or strangers, they can learn various of meaningful lessons about their study field or life, stimulating them to understand and apply it into their own scenarios in their life. For example, my cousin, who just arrived at Hanoi to study in FTU university, before he received the letter from that university, his life was just studied, eaten, gaming and sleep, most of his activities in his daily routine were depended on his parents. But after 6 months since his learning session in FTU, he has met and made friends with his colleagues, whose stories have strongly impacted to his personalities and his view, Now he is a mature person with self-care, self-independent, he never has to call for help, and even make his parents proud. Therefore, this is also a benefit that will outweigh all the disadvantages.

To sum up, learning far away from home is a great experience for young people who is attended to university till now. I strongly believe that this will strengthen their braveness, but also teach them meaningful lessons that universities may not teach them to be sustainable and be able to face problems alone.

TASK 2

In some countries, students live at home with their family during university. In other countries, many students choose studying at the university in another city. In this essay, I will argue that living far from home during university has more advantages than disadvantage for the students' future.

First of all, living far from family helps students learn more about life skills. Students have to do the housework, such as cooking, washing the dishes, or cleaning the house. Living without any family members means that there is no one can help them doing the housework. Although it maybe makes students feel stress sometimes, it is necessary for their future, prepare for their daily life when they become adults. Moreover, if they live with their roommates, they can improve their society skills too.

Secondly, living far from family can improve the connection between parents and students. There are no more arguments between them. When a student living alone and far from home, he have to do all the housework, he has no one who can hear him and give him advice, then he will feel alone and miss his parents. It is believe that parents and students connection can be blocked if the students live far from home, but in fact it is not. Most of students who living far from home miss their family although their relationship was not really close in the past. Their relationship will become closer and stronger when the students return home after studying at the university.

In conclusion, although living away from home have some disadvantages and sometimes it is uncomfortable for students, it is necessary for their life after university.

Learners in various countries live with their families when they attend the universities while others study far from home. In my perspective, the pros of study near parents is bigger than learn in other cities Attending the colleges near home can bring a lot of benefits. Firsly, students can get along with and strengthen the bonds with their friends. These homies can support each other to achive the sucess by give some advice of tips. People in Vietnam often said one tree cant do anything but 3 trees can make everything. This sentence show how the relationship can affect people failure or sucess. Also, live with family can help students avoid bad habits such as smoking and fighting. Without families, learners can easilly fall in these bad things which can destroy their bright future. On the other hand, living near families also have some cons. Students cant discover new things if they only live in one place. Many families want their children study in other countries to knoe about new culture and lifestyle. These knowledge can help open their mind to the world which can help students think different.

In conclusion, i belive that living with family can bring more benefits than study far from home on the grounds that it can help people avoid bad habits and improve the quality of friends

The bar charts illustrate the percentage of teenager students who learned oversea language in an English speaking countries between 1984 and 2007 and the most 3 studied language. It can be seen clearly that in the first chart, the proportion of female students who learned other language is higher than boys throughout the period while in the other chart French is the most studied language whereas Spanish is the lowest

As the graph shows, in 1984, the proportion of female learners who studied oversea language exceeded the boy figure by the margin of 20. After 23 years, the data of girls reduced to 40 while boys figure dipped to 25

In the second chart, French figure cam top with half of students learned while the number of students learned German was nearly half or french data. In the last plqce, that of spanish recorded at 5 which only one ten of french figure. The 2007 data mirrored the trend thought at lower extend with the highest data at 35.

In some countries, college students study near their family house, while in other countries college students study in another city. In this essay, I will explain why I think the advantages of living away from home during college outweigh the disadvantages.

The reason why I think it is better to live far from home doing university is that this will encourage students to step outside of their comfort zone. This means that they will have to pay their bills, take care of their health, overall solving their problems all by themselves. For example, when a student from an average family living away, they have no choice but to find a job since their family don’t have the ability to support them. This will build their independence and soft skill for them to enter the adults world.

In contrast, I believe that live at a home with family, while studying university will take away more than it give since students will rely on their parents as they used to. Family members tend to help students with their course since they want their child to focus on studying and resting, and they may or may not realize that this will slowly took away from their newly adult the ability to live on their own.

In conclusion, I think that living away from home during university will bring more advantages than advantages since it helps develop students living skills.

From this information, foreign languages don't have an extremely important part as thay did.

Beside, the second chart show us students in 2007 prefer learning German and Spanksh to French, which is different from 1984.

writing task 1:

the two bar charts illustrates the propotion of students who studied a foreign language in english speaking country and top 3 languages studies by students.

Overall the two bar charts illustrates two different things, percentage of students who studied a foreign language was far lower propotion with top 3 languages studied by students.

in the first bar charts, the girl who studied a foreign language was noticeably increased with percentage growth about nearly 50% whereas the boys was lower extent than the girls is about 30% at 1984. In 2007, was a similar trend with 1984, the girls was plunge to 50% innovated to 40% and the boys was slightly decreased with a small discrepancy about 27%. Compare with 1984, 2007 was lower extend, the percentage fall from 50% to 40% and 30% to 27% .

In the second bar charts, In 1984, Spain had the lowest percentage of all three countries, Germany had the second highest percentage, and France had the highest growth rate. French has a high rate of 50%, German is 30% less than French and Spanish is only 4%. In 2007, the percentage of all three countries was similar to the trend in 1984, but each country's percentage was less than in 1984. Spain was still the country with the least percentage of about 10%, an increase of 6% compared to 1984, German increased by a negligible percentage compared to 1984. In 1984, it was only 4% and the highest was in France, but it was much lower than in 1984, about 26%.

Writing task 2:

in some countries university students live at home with their family while they study, whereas in othe countries students attend university in another city. I’m strongly agree with this viewpoint.

first, we will find to know about what is live at home while they study university and what is student attend university in another city. live at home while they study university is study at home by use social media, searching google and online study university, this way make people dont need to pay a lot of money to go outside and to cover living expenses such as ultilities bills. but nowadays, independent is important and necessary with every individuals persons. So study at home with family will make people become sedentary lifestyle, the period become elaboration faster but they will be neglected when always live at home. in addiction, they dont have any reference material to study when they study at home.

in contrast, people who attend university in another city will have more benefit than live at home. they will have independent lifestyles, add more value to yourself. they will have alot of knowledge about university, social outside, increase level study and have a better amenities in daily life. in addiction, they will know how to take care to yourself when dont have family and parents nearby, prepare for anything. when they live alone in another countries, their life will more become flexible, development and in this time they study enough knowledge, they will find the better job to make money after that they will getting a promotion faster than people live at home every day.

overall, students attend university in another city will have more benefit than live a home while study university. this viewpoint will making people become better and better

Task 1

The bar charts demonstrate the percentage of 14 to 16 years old students who studied a foreign language and top 3 languages learned by students in English speaking country from 1984 to 2007. Overall, girls were more likely to study other international languages than boys, and French had the most choice in the language lists.

As the graph shows, in 1984, the proportion of female students studied a foreign language was more than that of boys by fifth-third (50% and 30% respectively). Similarly, the trend still continued in 2007, but with the lower extent which the former was 40 percent while the latter slightly decreased to around 25%.

In the second chart, French was the language that had the highest percentage of studying (about 50% to and it decreased to more than 30% in 2007). However, two others language were German and Spanish saw an upward trend which the former increased to around 20% and the latter rose significantly from about 3% to 10%.

Task 2

There is an ongoing debate whether students in university should live with their parents or not. From my perspective, the advantages of living far from home in university's studying time outweigh the drawbacks.

There are some pros of living with the long distance to unnersity's students family. The primary positive side is that students can live and work individually. As studying people locate far from their home, they need to do their daily routines by themselves such as make breakfast, wake up, or even do the laundry. Therefore, various normal skills can be obtained and practiced in order to prepare for their lives after graduated Another benefit is that students are free to do anything that they like or want to do because they are not controlled by their parents. For example, when they were a child, the parents restrict the time they slept, the time they needed to go back home at night. Thus they do not need to follow their parents rules.

On the other hand, there are still existed some disadvantages about this issue. Firstly, living far from family limits the time students take care of their parents. For instance, if their father or mother have an illness, they can not look after them. Therefore, their bonds with family may be worse, or even broken. Secondly they may have struggle with their finance management. Since they still are students, they can not make enough money to pay for their needs, so their living qualities and living conditions may be fallen.

In conclusion, living far or near home during university is not really affect student's life because it depends on what they like and their motivation are large enough or not.

Part 2

In some country while the students are starting in the universities they live with their family at home. Otherwise, other countries students attend university in another city. In my point of view, benifits of living away from home during university outweigh the disadvantages.

First, let's review the advantages and disadvantages of living with family while learning university. If the students live with their family, they do not have to worry about paying for the daily routine like go shopping or daily work. Due to not worrying anything, students can be depended on their parents, and can not walk out of their safe-zone and can not develop their basic life-skills. Otherwise, they can be provided a good place to stay.

Move on to the second option, students should be attended university in another city, seperate from their family. In my point of view, this is a good way to develop the students so that they can prepare for their own career. For example, most of the students in VietNam move from others city to the capital so that they can learn and work here. Moving into a new atmosphere force the students to adapt with new setting. They can be more independent than they was before. Learning in a strange city force them to be courage and face all the pressure, such as finding a good-price place to stay in, finding a well-paid job so that they can pay for their daily routines. The only disadvantages is that they might be missing their family. They can not meet their family in a long period which can be so tough for them to express all the sadness and pressure with their family.

In conclusion, learning in other city is a great opportunity for students to develop themselves to be more sensitive with the surrounding and developing skills that might be used in their future career. Learning how to independent and adapt in a new setting is also useful for their future life.

Task 1

Depend on the first charts, we can clearly see that the percentages of girls who leaned foreign language is way more than the percentages of boys who learned foreign language. In 1984, the percentages of girls who leaned foreign language is approximately 50% and the percentages of boys who learned foreign language is approximately 30%. In 2007, the percentages of girls who leaned foreign language slightly decreased to 40% and the percentages of boys who learned foreign language is slightly decreased to 35%. We can not know whether the number of boys who learned foreign language is more than the number of girls who leaned foreign language or not due to the unbalanced of gender.

On the second chart, we can see that the number of students who learned French is in the lead and follow by the number of students who leaned German and top 3 is Spanish. In 1984, students mostly prefer learning French (approximately 50%), due to this is the time where France is the major effective country all around the world. Follow by the number of students who learned German ( approximately 20%) and top 3 is Spanish with approximately 4%. In 2007, the percentages of students who learn French is decreased down to approximately 32%, follow by German which is slightly increased by 4%. Last but not least, Spanish which have increased about 6% since 1984

In my opinion, I would rather merge both charts together so that it can present the number of both boys and girls who learn each type of language than seperate two charts. Moreover, the charts should use other types of regonise such as dots, cross, and coloured bars so that both examiners and students can see charts properly( due to the printer is a black-and-white printer)

Task 2:

Many students choose universities that are near their home to go to while other students have to move to someplace else to attend university. I think that the benefits of students having to move away from home for university outweigh the disadvantages for several reasons.

Moving away from home in their 20s gives the students opportunities to be an independent individual. Living with family is a safe and caring environment but the students might lack experiences to deal with real life situations of adulthood. Attending university in a whole new place and new people might be overwhelming to students at first but they will have the chance to be on their own and operate their own lives. They also have to make many decisions in daily practice which help them to be more mature. For example, students starting a new university life have to decide on accomodation, transport, financial management, daily household chores etc to operate their daily lives.

Moreover, university is an important period of time for students to explore who they really want to be, what they want to do and have chances to shape their personality. Living with family may bring the ideas down since the students are still under their parents’ management and they might lack freedom of making decisions. Living a new life far away from home gives students opportunities to explore their interests, try new hobbies, take care of themselves and get to know what they want. This builds a foundation on their future professionalism.

Task 1:

The first bar chart illustrates the percentage of English speaking students from 14 to 16 years old learning a foreign language while the second chart compared the most 3 languages studied by students in 1984 and 2007.

As the chart shows, regarding gender, the number of English female students who studied a new language were much higher than that of male students in both given years. The most number of students chose French to study while Spanish was the least chosen language.

As the first chart shows, under 50% of female students studied a foreign language in 1984, then this figure decreased significantly by nearly 10% after 23 years. The male students data set witnessed a much lower proportion compared to females with about only 30% new language learning students in 1984. This figure mirrored female students' trend, though to a lower extent, where the percentage dropped from about 30% to over 20% between 1984 and 2007.

The second chart showed French was the most chosen language learned with about 50% in 1984. This percentage dropped by nearly 20% after 23 years but it still kept the 1st rank in new language studies by students. German, however, wi

Task 1 :

In the past, 14-to-16 year old students which was girls outweigh the boys in studying a foreign language. Nowadays, a numbers of boy’s students learn another languages are increase. In the chart we can see a distance from the girls to the boys is 20 but now decrease to 15. Both the girls and the boys seem to dislike or don’t have enough conditions to study foreign language. We should study it to improve many skills and due to it’s useful. On second chart, we see top 3 languages studied by students. In 1984, French is on the top and in 2007 is the same. Therefore,French seem to plays an important role and is the most language which students study.

Task 2:

There is an ongoing debate revolves whether where university students study. In many countries, they live at home while they study but others attend in another city. Both ways to study have advantages and drawbacks. But I think that the benefits of living at home outweigh the disadvantages.

One of the main reasons why this outweigh the disadvantages is a cost of living. When students live away from home, they have to rent apartment. This can be at risk of scam, don’t have enough money to do anything. Beside, many items must be bought like food, uniform,…This can become a financial barrier which they have to face.

However, if they live at their home, they don’t have to but them. Students only must buy uniforms. Moreover, a distance from apartment to school is a serious problem. They must divide their money to use in study after school, in their vehicle or public transports. All living conditions can destroy any students’s future.

In conclusion, many reason we just said can become challenges with many teenagers. Therefore, we should choose a suitable option to study in a few years.

Task 2:

In some countries people who study at university stay at home with their family during studying's time while in other countries university students choose to live in university in another city. There is an ongoing debate over whether living away from family brings more benefits or drawbacks. From my perspective, the advantages such as independence and self-control outweigh the disadvantages: disconnection, mental breakdown or living without parents's care.

People who live far from home during university may have some problems such as disconnection, feel hard to live without parents and struggle about mental health. First, they have to do household chores, control living extends by themselves Which leads to harder life. For instance, when they live with their family, the work is divided into small parts for 1 person, so the amount of work they need to do is not big. While living alone means they have to do and control all of work. In addition, living away from home and cann brings many stress and also make this connection with friends, family leading mental breakdown. Since when living alone, students may feel lonely and also because of the amount of time they can meet friends, family face to face is not much so they cannot share their expression like they were before.

Despite many drawbacks, it still brings a lot of benefits for university student such as independence and self-control. At first, leaving far away from home helps them gain experience and knowledge, making them become more independent. For example, they need to find information, collect advices to learn how to protect themselves so they don't have to rely on others people to save themselves. Secondly, when they live alone, they can make self decisions while do not need parents permission. If they want to go to a party or a music show, they will go without needing parents's allow, which makes a free life.

After discussing about pros and cons of living away from home during university. In my opinion , the benefits outweigh the drawbacks because of independence and self control.

Task 1:

The charts illustrate the percentage of students who study a foreign language in an English-speaking country and top 3 languages studied by students.

Overall, the proportion of students studying foreign language decrease from 1984 to 2007 with the downward trend in population of top three foreign languages.

Xuân Hiếu

Task 1:

the two bar below show the proporition of 14 - 16 year-old students studying a foreign language in in English speaking country, with top thee foreign language. Overall, between from 1984 to 2007, there are a lot of significant changes.

The first one is percentage of sudents who studied a foreign language, which is talk about boys and girls. In 1984, students who a a boy studied a foreign languge is 30%, while girls is about almost 50%, In 2007, percentage of both boys and girls who studied another languge had been decrease; while the boys is claimed more 25% and the girls from nearly 50% to 40%. As me can see, quantity difference of students who studied French, German or Spanish in 1984 had been decease, from nearly 20% To more than 15%

The top 3 languages studied by students is French, German, Spanish, which is from country has a strong economic. In 1984, percentage of French was 50%, while German's is 20% and Spanish is below 5%.

In 2007, the percentage of French had been decreased from 50% To about 35%; while the German's and Spanish's had been increased (German is 25% and Spanish is 10%)

Task 2

There is a debate between two opinions: students live at home with their family while they study and students attend university in another city. I partly agree both of them because I think they have their own benefits and disadvantages but I would like the first one.

The first opinion is students live at home with their family while they study. One of the main reason why they did that is how convenient this method is. You can live with parents, so it is much cozy and comfortable and it can save a lot of money such as: transport, bills, house's price,... But when you live with your parents, your responsibility about transport, bills, house's price,... is low because your parents can care about you. Besides, it is hard for you to go out for business or hang out with your friend when you grow up because your family need to wait for you.

The second opinion is students attend university in another city. This is not just about in other city, it is about another country. This usually happen with overseas student, or just in Viet Nam, a lot of student from a lot of provinces learn university in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh city, which city has a much stronger financial, much higher salary and percentage of jobs than other provinces in Viet Nam. This may cause some disadvantages such as: you need to pay bills,transport,... but it can helps you in the future like you know how to get money from some source such as part-time jobs. Moreover, you can do a lot of things you need to do or whatever you like and just don't need to think much about your family wait for you. Besides, it may helps you try to connect with other people, which can helps you in the future.

Overall, both of two opinions have their own advantages and disadvantages, but I will choose the first one. In my opinion, it is hard for you to live in other city or country because of their culture, food and the price of house recently. Besides, it is much better fo you to live with your family.

Task 1

Nguyễn Tiến Dũng

The bar charts illustrate the percentage of

teenagers in an English speaking country studying a second language between 1984 and 2007, and the three most learned languages. It is clear that, the proportion of male teenagers studying a foreign language is higher than girls in 1984 and 2007. However, both showed a decrease throughout the period. French, German and Spanish are the top three foreign languages in the country with French always stays at the highest.

In 1984 there was almost half the male students aging from 14 to 16 study a foreign language. This percentage dropped down to about 40% in the next 23 years. The proportion of 14 to 16 years old girls studying another language also showed a slight decrease, from 30% in 1984 to 26% in 2007.

French is the most studied language among students in this country, about 50% of students who studied a foreign language chose French in 1984. This proportion gradually decreased and reached 33% in 2007. Next came German, which had 20% in 1984. In contrast to French,

German showed a slight increase of about 5% throughout the period. The third language is Spanish, there was only 5% students chose to

Study this language in 1984, however, the figure doubled and reached 10% in 2007.

Task 2

In some countries, university students have to move to another city to attend college, while in other countries, students can live at home and still go to university. There are both advantages and disadvantages of living away from home during university. In my opinion, the benefits easily out weigh the disadvantages.

The main reason why I believe attenhing university in another city benefits the student is that they can have their freedom and no longer living with their parents. This can give the students opportunities to explore the new

city and meet new people, they will don't need to spend time helping their parentsorn returning before curfeu will give them extra time to focus in both university

and extra curriculum life. The second benefit

of living away is that they can learn to be independent, how to take care of them shelves and not relying on their parents, university students are older than 18, therefore, they are at legal age

to take responsibility and start living a away from their parents. Lastly, studying in another city also benefits their parents, as they can focus on their works and life and get use to live apart from their chilchens.

Living away from home home also have

some noticable disadvantages. The biggest drawbacks is that the students can be tricked into doing bad things by new friends or people, like smoking or doing drugs, these are really bad for their health and future life. However, I believe university students are old enough to know what is bad for them, they also have to take responsible for what they do against the law. There are also many distractions making it harder for them to focus on their study.

Thảo Minh

TASK 1

Two bar charts illustrate the percentage of students aged 14 to 16 who studied a foreign language and the top three languages they studied during the years between 1984 and 2007.

Overall, in the first bar chart, over 23 years, the proportion of girls studying a foreign language was always higher than that of boys. However, as the years went by, the percentage of both boys and girls learning a foreign language decreased. In the second bar chart, the percentage of students studying French was consistently larger than the percentages for German and Spanish. Similarly, fewer students studied any of the top three languages over time.

In 1984, the percentage of girls studying a foreign language was 50%, but by 2007, it had dropped to 40%. During the same period, the percentage of boys showed a similar trend, though at a lower level, with a decrease of only 10%. Overall, the proportion of students studying a foreign language in 1984 was higher than in 2007 by approximately 20% for girls and 15% for boys.

Regarding the top three languages studied, French was the most popular language. In 1984, 50% of students chose French, but this number dropped significantly to 32% in 2007. German and Spanish followed the same trend, with their figures declining by around 2–3% during the same period.

TASK 2

Some people feel that college students nowadays should live at home with their family, while others, including me, believe that it is better for university students to live far away from home.

The first benefit of studying in another city is that it helps students become more independent. Normally, when living at home, students do not need to worry too much about daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, or paying bills because their parents take care of these responsibilities. Students at home can focus entirely on their studies and enjoy a more comfortable life. However, when living away from home, students have to take care of themselves. For example, they need to rent a house, manage their expenses, and buy food.

Additionally, for students whose families cannot fully cover their education costs, living away from home encourages them to work part-time to support themselves. These experiences teach students how to handle challenges independently, making them more mature and self-reliant

TASK2:

Students in some countries choose study at university near home so that they can live at home with their family and other students participate in studying at another city. I firmly believe that the benefits of living away from home outweigh the drawback.

Firstly, I will explain about students choose study university in another city and the benefits, disadvantages of living away from home. Students study at another city such as study abroad to other countries. When students study far from home, they need to live alone or with new friends without their family. So that students will become more independent. Such as in household chores, they have to cook for themselves, do housework, wash the dishes…Besides, students have to face challenges in society independently and that will help them grow and correct their mistakes. Moreover, living away from home provides students an environment to concentrate and achieve academic success. Besides the benefits of living away from home, there are also have disadvantages. In the university setting, students must study by their abilities and efforts to have a good job in the future. So that students also need to care about their health. A problem that often occurs among students who are far away from home is homesickness, which affect their mental well-being and academic performance. However, I think this problem insignificant because it only exists in the beginning.

I fully believe that benefits of living away from home during learning education outweigh the drawbacks.

There are a lots of benefits of studying far from home . It makes you responsible for your self. In addition, it can make you be the independent and responsibility person. For example , you can learn how to cook , go to shopping without your parents’ help .Beside that go to the university away from home can give you many opportunity in education , you can get high level in study . Moreover , living in a new city is can have a new friends , try new foods and culture. It will be a memorable memory .

In the others hand, there are also the negative side . Firstly , you will very miss your family and friends because you will not meet them in a long time . Secondly , sometime you feel very terrible and nobody cannot give you a hand .Example , your boss can racism you for work or people body-shaming you .

In short , maybe some people say that the negative is more than the positive .

Task 1:

At 1985 percentage of girl students who studied a foreign language are 50. And percentage of boy students who studied a foreign language are 30. The percentage of girl students who studied at foreign language are more likely than the percentage of boy students. At 2007 percentage of girl students who studied a foreign language are 40. And percentage of boy students who studied a foreign language are 20,8. At 1984 percentage of students who studied a foreign language are more likely than percentage of students at 2007.

Task 2

No, the disadvantages of living away from home during college outweigh the benefits. For example, university students who live far from home must be independent in spending, and managing budgets for daily activities, tuition fees, and other expenses. Without careful preparation, spending will become difficult and lead to debt. Being away from family and friends can make students feel lonely, lacking attention and emotional support from relatives. This feeling can affect psychological and mental health, making learning more difficult. Living away from home can make it difficult to maintain a healthy diet and a reasonable schedule. Not having an adult to prepare meals or remind them of the time can lead to improper eating, which affects health. In addition to studying, college students who live far from home also have to do household chores independently, making them feel more pressure and stress than living with their families. At the same time, they have to balance their studies and part-time work to cover living expenses. Not only that, but college students who live far from home may not have easy access to the medical care they need, especially if they do not have adequate health insurance or are not familiar with the medical facilities where they live. While the university environment provides opportunities for socialization, students living away from home may find it difficult to build strong social relationships without the support of family and familiar friends. Despite the difficulties, living away from home also helps students develop independence skills, time management, finances, and problem-solving. These experiences can help them grow and be better prepared for the future.

Task 1:

The bar chart illustrates proportional statistics of students aged from 14 years old to 16 years old who learn a foreign language in an English-speaking nation and the three most popular languages.

Overall, the proportion of both male pupils and female pupils learning a foreign language experienced downward trends, with the girls accounting for higher percentage. Apart from French, German and Spanish witnessed some increases in the portion of students.

In 1984, 50% of girls and 30% of boys studied a foreign language. After 23 years, in 2007, both the percentage of male students and female students decreased slightly by around 10% and 5% respectively.

French was the most learnt language as it accounted for exactly 50% in 1984, which means a half of the students who studied to be a bilingual, chose it. French also had 2,5 times more students compared to the second most popular language, which was German with 20% students learnt it. In the third place, Spanish only had around 4% of all learners. In 2007, that of French dropped dramatically from 50% to just more than 30%. Others showed upward trends, with the portion of students learning German and Spanish increased gradually by around 4% and 6% respectively.

Task 2:

In some countries, students choose to live with their family during university, while pupils from other countries take part in university in a different city. Personally, I believe that the benefits of living far away from home while attending university is out overshadow its drawbacks.

Studying and living away from parents can help them improve

necessary soft skills in order to have the ability to live on their own. Some parents want their children to stay with them as they believe leaners cannot mainly focus on their studies when they live far away, which turns out to actually have negative effects on academic performances. However, the social skills also play a vital role in the future, and allowing students to choose to live alone can be a way to improve their skills. For example, pupils have to manage their time precisely to finish every task and works on time, therefore, over the time, they improve the time management skills, which is an important skill when they have an occupation.

Students living away from the family might have more social relationships compared to the others. This is because most students will have to hire a flat to stay in while they study. However, the flat can be expensive for some of them as it is originally built for a whole family to live in; and the best way to utilize it is to live with a group of people. Living together allows students to communicate with new people, who can be their peers, older students or even younger ones. As a result, it encourages communication and bonding between roommates, which may be the chances for students to acquire knowledge, skills and experience from new people, share their ideas, stories and feelings and find people with same characteristics. Although there might be misunderstandings, this communication has positive impacts on students.

In conclusion, living away from home during university can be a chance to acquire significant skills, knowledge and contact with new people. That is why I am convinced that its advantages outweigh its disadvantages.
