He was accused of violating many of the human rights and one clear example is that he had a child as a bodyguard.
Kabila was a socialist and knew Che Guevara.

In 1998, one of the greatest continental wars of these times began. It all began when Mobutu came to power after overthrowing Patrice Lumumba, and planted a dictatorship in the Congo. He opposed the African National Congress and several governments of neighboring African countries. Mobutu was a dictator who tried to conquer South Africa. Many governments wanted to overthrow him. The war ended in 2003 when the transitional government came to power with the Pretoria agreement.

Human Rights that are violated in a war

This event being a war violates several rights. Some of them are:

Article 3: The right to life, liberty and security of person. This is affected because in a war the person has no security or liberty since he or she can either be kidnapped or killed.
Article 4: No one shall be subject to slavery. In war, slavery is seen very much due to prisoners of war who are forced to work or even fight for them.
Article 5: No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. This is one of the most frequent since war is based on death and torture of the enemy

Article 19: Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression. This right is violated because in war if you think differently or express yourself differently from the leader or the majority you can be killed for treason.
