Is Art Generated by Artificial Intelligence Real Art from the Harvard Gazette, by Liz Mineo, analyzes the effects of artificial intelligence across the art disciplines. Mineo’s article is a useful source due to the abundance of perspectives on the argument. This article includes five professional artists (within writing, music, film, visual art, and design) and their personal take on the recent issues regarding AI and art. A common theme across the different artists is the significance of humanity in the arts. The artists explained that by disregarding the personal, organic nature of people, works created through artificial intelligence often tend to lack the originality and uniqueness that would be found within works created by artists. This source allows for a better understanding of how artificial intelligence has impacted many regions of art outside of my personal studies within the fine arts and design.

The New Yorker’s Why AI Art Isn’t Going to Make Art, by Ted Chiang, examines the recent argument of AI and art. Instead of listing brief perspectives of different artists regarding the argument, The New Yorker’s article is separated into various aspects as to why artificial intelligence won’t be able to replace art at its current technological stage. Chiang includes thought-provoking reasoning as to why the outcome of AI art is generally boring and dull. Since AI implements an average of thousands of artworks seen through the internet, the result will be inherently bland and non-original. These new perspectives regarding AI and art will be helpful while creating my paper on Artificial Intelligence will impact the future of art.
