In my independent reading book "The Outsiders" by s.e. hinton, the Greasers run the east side of town, and the socs run the west side of town which is more wealthy, while the east is ore poor. I do not think that I would enjoy this setting because it is very divided and there is a lot of labels put on people, and segregation. The socs and the Greasers portray economic levels, as the Socs are considered better than the Greasers. Their overall way of life seems very violent, and harsh, while they are always worried about protecting themselves. I would not like this because I am not a very violent person, and I could not live everyday worried about defending myself.

I admire s.e Hinton's imagery shown throughout the book. It makes it very clear, and makes you picture clearly in your head, almost like you are in the book. An example of this would be "He's got eyes that are like two pieces of pale blue-green ice. They've got a determined set to them, like the rest of him. He looks older than twenty—tough, cool, and smart. He would be real handsome if his eyes weren't so cold."
