As a community, the science field works very hard at communicating facts and maintaining a subjective stance on all subjects. While this is important, the ability to convince the public to pay attention to data can be problematic when the tone of scientific discourse seeks neutrality. 

Aristotle contends that sound argumentation and persuasion requires the use of the rhetorical triangle. The usage of ethos, logs and pathos is crucial in maintaining an active listening audience and convincing them of the validity of a position. Furthermore, communication researchers Richard Petty and John Cacioppo created the Elaboration Likelihood Model which demonstrates the importance of emotional content in message delivery. The very nature of scientific communication is its own downfall as the omission of emotion acts as a message road block to a public largely ill-informed. 

Science needs communicators. A balance of effective neutrality and effective emotional communication can be found with persistence and creativity. The future depends on it. 

As a teacher, my communication skills can be shared with my students. My four children and wife constitute my entire world. Together My wife and I have been married for 17 years. My two oldest children from a previous marriage have both grown and moved on. My oldest is currently attending Washington State in his Masters Program for German Language Studies in Education. My wife works for the county court system as a clerk. My Youngest lives on the spectrum and I take great interest in her IEP development and future goals of autonomy.

I play drums from all over the world, from rock and roll to playing exotic percussion for belly dancers, drumming has always been a top contributor toward my personal emotional balance. 

I love nature and the outdoors. Backpacking, camping, fishing and hiking are all favorite hobbies of mine. If I can be outdoors and in nature, I am just as at home as I am in the comfort of my music room.
