I see the increased need to customize education for the individual needs of the adult learner. The same way that social media has increasingly connected us all 24/7, so will virtual schools. I see the electronic medical record becoming a more seamless 'living document'  that any care provider could access. (?Blockchain??) 
I see incredible advancements in the use of 3D printing for replacement of human tissue.

The absence of a remote delivery platform like the internet required face-to-face instruction in the past. That’s what people are used to. And, while students prefer F2F instruction, they will likely have no choice but to adapt to the new form of delivery. Students will have to learn to become more responsible for their own progress. So the traditional structure of education itself may change. 

The nature and purpose of learning will likely expand. A huge need in particular seems to be job training. 70% of YouTube viewers use the platform to help solve work/school/hobby problems. So traditional degrees can be supplemented with life-long learning, where students may take numerous micro-degrees throughout their lives. A larger proportion of the developing world will be able to attain degrees offered online, either contributing to the economies of their own countries, and providing a greater number of highly-educated immigrants. The stats show that the majority of online learning is in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. The future will mean fiercer competition because of a far larger pool of people with advanced degrees. That should lead to more innovation, which should in turn contribute to further opportunities.

Even simple YouTube tutorials have taught people things they previously would never have learned. New technologies are constantly been developed to facilitate learning and as time progresses I anticipate learning moving from the traditional forms to a virtual setting.  Education would be easily accessible to all once they have access to a device with internet. Each person can take learning at their own speed. The different technological tools or resources would be customized for persons with physical/learning disabilities, not exempting anyone from virtual learning.  We can use RRU as an example of how technology has been integrated into learning. With the average professional taking on greater workloads and increased demands, learning needs to keep up with that, and technology seems to the best means in making this happen. I think microlearning will play a larger role in professional development training with bite size modules delivered through webinars, or short video clips. Learning in this area will become more self-directed with the learner able to customize their own course of study. We are already beginning to see these types of learning opportunities available in platforms such as Lynda.com, which offers on-demand video, along with text-based options and assessments. From a delivery standpoint, Lynda.com also has the ability to download videos for viewing offline and to be viewed on mobile devices and laptop/desktop computers.
