When Bell's father returns from the Beast's castle to the town he enters the tavern to seek help. After telling the towns people what had happened most of them marked him of as crazy. Ignoring this  Gaston agrees to help Bell's father in order to gain his favor to merry Bell. After searching Gaston wanted to return to the town and rest, but Bell's father is insistent on Bell being beyond a tree in a castle. Because of this Gaston begins to lose his cool, and become angry to the point with Gaston attempts to kill Bell's father. Belle shows non-conformity throughout the movie because she doesn't care what people think and she never tries to change who she is for other people. She is the "outcast" of her town and people view her as very strange and weird, but she doesn't care and she never tries to be someone that she isn't. Throughout the whole movie the other people in the village show conformity because everyone is living under these "set societal standards" and Belle always talks about how everyone and everything is the same all the time. When Lefou always stick to Gaston and wanted to be like him from the beginning. Lefou was left behind by Gaston from storming the castle. So he switch sides from Gaston to help the objects from saving Mrs. Pot, and fighting back the towns people. Throughout the story Le Fou's admiration of Gaston is very evident. Because of his admiration of Gaston he tries very hard to act like him and follow his lead in all situations. However, as the story progresses, Le Fou begins to question Gaston's actions more and more in each circumstance. Up until this point, it was very unlike Le Fou not to conform to Gaston's image due to his infatuation, which is very similar to that of every other person in the town's view of Gaston. When Gaston begins to go to all, very much unprecedented lengths to win Belle as his wife, Le Fou begins to change just as Gaston becomes more rash and unpredictable in his choices. In the end, Le Fou realizes that though Gaston may be physically and superficially attractive, he is not a very kind or considerate person. Le Fou Realizes that Gaston has never really treated him with any respect either let alone the rest of the people in the town. In the end Le Fou turns against Gaston in an excellent example of a character adapting not to conform to the expectations of others, and rather to the new expectations he has of himself.

When the village sings the song "Belle" they talk about how "odd" and "strange" she is because she is completely different than all of the other girls because she is intelligent and has the ability to read. She doesn't care about conforming to the social norm and she just is herself. The other girls have their hair and makeup done, wear formal dresses, and are infatuated with Gaston. Belle on the other hand, wears simple dresses, little makeup, and her hair in a ponytail.
