Students are encouraged to independently shape their own curriculum from an array of studies, fostering individual study, and full ownership of the shape of their education.

 Students are required to wear a 
" casual uniform", and have the option to live on campus for boarding. The Boarding department strives to make the atmosphere a home away from home. Boarding provides a 2:1 ratio. 

Our students are very bonded at our school not only are they required to live in the same house for their entire stay at School of Funk, but they will have the same core teachers and student groups (outside of their specialized picks curriculum choices) 

My school offers free tuition to qualified students from homes with less than 75k incomes. Financial aid is need-based and consists only of grants, no loans. School of Funk fully meets the gap between the family income and tuition cost.

In this way, teachers guide students by participating in the discussions rather than lecturing. Their academic mission is to leave no child behind. 


One day a week all students gather at the school sports facility for a school meeting, this meeting usually consists of guest speaker or musical performance. This is to keep all the staff and students involved and motivated. This weekly community meeting also provides leadership opportunities, celebrates individual and group success, and cultivate respect and responsibility. This meeting will mostly be lead by the headmaster.

Our staff is highly involved within the school, with at least 1 extra curricular activity being mandated for all staff and students.

Teachers are not to focus on class as a whole, but to focus on each individual person within the classroom. 

With teachers and administration all on the same page. School of Funk 6-8th grade students do not establish letter grades, but rather detailed comments describing the students’ intellectual and personal growth. Instead of the typical labels or grades, Middle School students take intellectual risks in the classroom and learn from mistakes. Instead of failing a project or homework assignment teachers will work with students having trouble until they get it right and understand the material. No student is left behind at our school will our teachers will go above and beyond to provide complete knowledge.

Students are also required to participate in extracurricular activities of their choice and of no extra cost, student can be involved as many or as little as 1 activity while maintain a Mastery standing in all classes.

Activities are to include but not limited to: 
Orchestra, chorus, drama, drama production, debate team, math team, art course, chess club, ballroom dance society, Philosophy club, science club, student newspaper, traditional sports team baseball, basketball, soccer ETC. 

Students are required to complete 80 hours of community service, and learn CPR to graduate.
 Such as but not limited to: 
Peer support, Youth ending hunger, Red cross club, operation smile,  Habitat for Humanity, special Olympics. ETC
