He is afraid of Banquo and wants him dead. Banquo knows of the prophecies and could Rat him out, also he know that his childreen will continue the Throne line. Macbeth is ambitious and greedy person, but he is also conflicted and He will probably let his grad down soon.

MacBeth is afraid of losing his king position specifically to Banquo. Like sunk cost fallacy he thinks he has to continue no matter what it takes because he’s already in too deep. He decides he needs to have Banquo and Fleance killed to sustain his throne. MacBeths greed had led him to go from an honourable and trustworthy man, killing the traitors, to becoming the traitor himself.

we learned that Macbeth is a man that is easy scared of the power struggle after the kings death. He is now king but deathly scared to loss this position. He is willing to do anything to keep as we see him trying to kill Banquo and his son. however the son survives.

We learned that Macbeth is a very ambitious and greedy person, he feels guilt, but is more overwhelmed by all the power that he gained and does not want to lose it or risk it. He gets scared about Banquo, because he feels that Banquo has all the “king personalities” and Banquo also knows about the prophecies. Macbeth does not want him to be a potential threat and comes up with a plan to kill Banquo as well as his offsprings. This shows how it’s leading to more murder and how Macbeth just can’t have enough.
