IT Laboratory lesson for students with disabilities

I like that I and my collegue could help students with disabilities in an inclusive laboratory. We organize lesson in small groups together with other students and teach the basic of PC. We 'd like that these students could be included in out future digital society. It is vital for them! I like everything about our lesson and it is very challenging!

my classes are all really traditional: there are about 26 desks for 26 students, there is a blackboard and a LIM. The teacher's desk in opposite the desks and there three big windows. On the walls there are pictures, maps or other projects made by my students about different school subjects. We usually have traditional theaching lessons and sometimes I change the position of the desks in order to organise the lessons differently and involve the students more.

In Italy no teacher has her/his classroom. During the lesson, the teacher can move the desks and create the most suitable environment for teamwork. But it is not that simple: safety, noise, time are sometimes an obstacle.
In the class of my school there's an Internet connection. This is a good thing, if and when everything works.

In my preschool classroom (this is classroom for children 1 - 2 years old) I would like to have more appropriate furniture for the little ones (lower furniture with space for different didactic materials). I teach in a primary school and this is my classroom. I like the big rooms, so the children can move easily and the organisations of the desks because they can speak each others. I would like to change some spaces to give the opportunity to work together..a space where they can go and improve their skills. I would like to have some PC in the class. Sometimes to have a Lim in the class is not enough

My classrooms (I teach in different classes with other teacher, therefore there’s no much freedom for me) have a grid organization. I think it is very useful for the first two months of the first grade in primary school (6 years) since the setting leads to a very teacher centred role and I think it is important in this stage when pupils are disoriented and the teacher has a little knowledge of them. However, after having seen the Brussels lab and compared it to an Italian project (Senza Zaino school) I think that my favourite classroom would be something in the middle. At first I wish I had a smartboard and tablet for every students to be used in different ways. Moreover I would appreciate different areas, even though I think my wishes needs to meet with the lack of space. I would like a space which can be converted in a teacher led activities space and a cooperative learning space (putting desks close in group of four and changing organization when needed ), a space for independent learning, and one for investigation in pairs. I would also appreciate to have a space on the ground where pupils can just stay together to share ideas or read in pairs, little groups or with the whole class.

I really like to use different materials to enrich my students lessons, including technology ( we use digital board, iPads, and laptops).

My classrooms are very traditional. There are three or four rows of desks. The teacher desk is opposite the stydents' desks. Behind the teacher desk there is the white board. I don't like this type of classroom setup, but I share the classrooms with my colleagues and I haven't the liberty to organize the space in a different way.

My classroom is very traditional but we have one computer on teacher desk and use a platform to all the work related to school (class summaries, student absences, … ). I also use it with some tools like Geogebra. We have only a ICT room that students use mostly in the ICT discipline but other teachers can also use that room if it is not occupied . I would like that my classroom have more space to change it so that we can make work group and the desks and chairs more comfortable. I also would be very happy if each student could have a pc or tablet to work in the classroom.

Here the presentation by my students: as you can see, our classrooms are very traditional even though we have a laptop on teacher's desk, Internet connection and in some classrooms a big screen. The lab is much better: a lot of computers and room to move, a table to sit together and have things. We can ask for a camera to shot video. I don't like at all the colours of walls and furniture; besides I would like to have drawers to keep things made by students or useful to them

A typical classroom in one of the five schools i teach in. Spacious and well-lighted, the classroom seems ideal for students and teachers... projects can be ideally joggled and teacher can control the space easily. Nevertheless, not all classrooms are equiped with PCs or interactive boards, let alone the fact that I need to move from one classroom to the other never having standard equipment at hand.....
I either have to organise the course well in advance and ask permission to use similar classrooms or i never get to alternate the means of my course.

In my classes there are the slate blackboard, and a LIM, not all classes. In the computer lab there are computers for every pupil.
In the class I would change is the benches that distribution, and often I place them in a circle, so that they interact with each other.

I share my classroom with another colleague and we try to keep it attractive to our students.
There are 3 rows of desks as in a traditional classroom.
The walls are covered with pictures, maps, photos, children's materials and many other interesting stuffs.
Natural light as the classroom has three big windows with park view.
There is also a laptop, audio source and a video-projector.
I would change the floor and bring some more shelves for class materials.

I don't have my own classroom. There are four classrooms in my school and teachers go from one classroom to another. All of the classrooms have three rows of desks, traditional board, and a big pinboard. There is a projector in each classroom and a laptop. One of the classrooms has an interactive whiteboard which is great. I like that classroom the best. Furniture in our classrooms is traditional and not flexible. I wish I could have my own classroom with flexible furniture, a reading corner, a creative corner, interactive whiteboard, tablets for students.

My classroom, as all preschool classrooms is organized around interest areas, where children can play and explore...
* LITERACY: Here, children explore the world of books and are introduced to reading. There are children's books displayed on low shelves.
* HOUSEKEEPING: Here children experiment with different roles through pretend play. This area resembles a small house with a kitchen with a play stove, sink and dishes and a small supermarket area. Children learn to work with other children, to share and to make compromises.
* MANIPULATIVE PLAY: In this area children develop motor skills by using their fingers and hands in creative ways (e.g. patterns, Legos, puzzles e.t.c.)
* BLOCKS: Children are encouraged to build replicas of their world or creations of their imaginations using wooden blocks of different sizes and shapes. Also, they can play with small cars.
*ART: Different materials for creativity such as colored paper, crayons, markers, safe scissors are set out on shelves.
* RUG: This is where the entire class gathers to discuss or explain the program of the day or an upcoming project. Children normally begin and end the day on the rug area.
* COMPUTER: There is a table against the wall with two computers where children can play with appropriate software.
* LARGE MOTOR SKILLS: There is a separate room with a lot of equipment to encourage the use and development of large muscles.

In our school each desk is for one pupil and this makes it easy to make alterations according to the specific needs of each class.
We tend to change the classroom plan once every two weeksand experiment on it till we find what is the most suitable for each group of pupils.
I teach in 8 different classes and what makes me happy in most of them is the existence of natural light ,an interactive whiteboard that increases my possible means for teaching and allowing my pupils to have eye contact with me and their peers.I absolutely dislike having large classes of more than 20 pupils and having to focus on the curriculum when this is not applicable.

I teach electronics to students between ages of 15 and 18. In my classroom i have computer, video projector, router wirless, 3D printer.
Two things i really like in my classroom: Natural light and setting tables. It leads to a more positive and collaborative student attitude (team spirit).
Two things i really dislike in my classroom: Some lack of space and equipment. Fortunately i have few students in classroom. This classroom configuration has a maximum of 15 students.

My classroom is suitable for all kinds of work with students (Theoretical, TP and Practical).The greatest obstacle is the imposition of the ministry of education.

In my classes I have a LIM and a conneted notebook. I think this is an characteristic I want to keep. Another feature I like is also the presence of a traditional blackboard. In the classroom I would change the small size that make it difficult collaborative interaction. Even the size of the benches make it difficult to reposition the students.

My typical classroom looks like the following picture: classroom layout is very traditional and students sit in rows in front of the teacher's desk. There is an interactive multimedia board in all classrooms.
I really like the opportunity to attract the students’ attention and interest as a whole and the possibility to check their actions because my desk is just opposite them. I dislke the difficulty of doing group works because classrooms aren’t large enough; I also dislike the lack of attention of students sitting in the last rows of the classroom.

Compared to the amazing classroom we've admired in the video, well, it's quite smaller and it only presents two zones which could remind us of the Interact and the Exchange zone. Well, it isn't a Future Classroom Lab yet but it isn't a traditional classroom either. It represents a significant step forward towards that goal, indeed.

I like: the technological equipment (included LIM), which is a very useful tool to organize activities with the students; the school space is set up in a grid structure but the learning environment is quite flexible (e.g. separate tables for groups of students)
I dislike: the global settings of the curriculum. The subjects are strictly planned: this school organization does not promote the auto-learning of the students.

My classes are traditional even it is a laboratory . All classes are the same, except IT which has rounded desks near walls with computer. I don`t like the arrange because I don`t have enough space to be aside the pupils, to have a full contact with them. Then I don`t like because during lab we don`t have our instruments in hand all the time. The desks are big and not confortable.the pupils cannot work so well in groups. What I like? Maybe the light , it is natural with big windows and I like that finally we have a laptop and a share on the wall device. And also some modern lab aparatures.

I can't post a drawing of my class, because I teach in six different classes. They are similar to many other drawings posted here (classical configuration). But this year something has changed: we have set up a digital flexible lab. It isn't as large and futuristic as the one shown in the video, but it is an important signal that something is changing.

This is a typical arrangement of the students' desks in the classrooms at my school. 2 things I like about the classroom: it's spacious and neat. 2 things I don't like: the arrangement of the desks, almost all the lessons of my groups are held in different classrooms. How should it be changed? There should be bigger sized desks to seat four people around them to assure collaboration. There should be the same classroom for each class/group for all the lessons throughout the school year. High-tech tools should be applied in the classroom: perhaps books, workbooks could be replaced by digital materials on tablets.

This is the typical classroom but there are open spaces in school where investigating, creating and presenting is possible. It is possible to have a trolley with 25 chromebooks, or iPads, or computers. There's a fabolous multimedia room where some collegues of mine shoot high quality videos.

my classroom is a traditional Greek kindergarten classroom with different corners where children play, a "circle" corner where we gather to read and discuss, tables and chairs for working writing and making crafts, a craft corner full of craft materials, my desk, benches where they put their bags and coats and a place where we put the mattresses since it is an all day classroom. the problem is that there is not enough space if we want to create a new corner and it lucks new technology tools. there is only a pc, a printer, a tv and a dvd player all old. anyway I bring my own laptop and ipad in order to introduce new ways of learning. I would love to have a more modern, spacious, technologically fully equipped classroom but in Greece there is a very tight budget from the government and is up to the teacher whether he/she pays for better education.

How i plan to organize my Future Classroom :

EThis is a typical arrangement of the desks in the classrooms at my school. 2 things I like about the classroom: it's spacious and neat. 2 things I don't like: the arrangement of the desks, almost all the lessons of my groups are held in different classrooms. How should it be changed? There should be bigger sized desks to seat four people around them to assure collaboration. There should be the same classroom for each class/group for all the lessons througout the school year. I work in a primary school, where ther's usually more flexibility in classroom setup. The problem is that, because I teach a foreign language, I don't have my own classroom, so I have to adapt to the setup that was decided by each teacher. I like the computer and the interactive whiteboard because they make my lessons more open, interactive and collaborative (a room with a view!!!).

I really dislike the fixed arrangement of my students' desks because it is really very hard to create different learning spaces and collaboration is not facilitated at all. Finally I would like to paint the walls with different and more inclusive colours (one for each learning space).

I teach chemisry and we have a special classroom for this subject in our school. About my classroom I like digital technology - I have PC, projector nad visualizer, then whiteboard (only in three classrooms have it) and special tables for experiments. I would like to change space in my classroom and create learning zones (maybe all six by FCL) and gain more ICT for experiments.

In current classroom children collaborate on simply experiments or on doing mindmaps for their presentation. But it's a little uncomfortable because of tables are big and fixed. This is what I would like to change there.

Our classrooms are very traditional even if we have got LIM and, sometimes, PC for the students.
The things I like are the Interactive whiteboard and the possibility to let the students use PCs. I like the big windows as they let us rest (our eyes and our concentration) sometimes during the lesson.

It is a quite flexible one, since it changes from the traditional teacher-oriented lectures to more modern teaching approaches, depending on the specific lesson, the time available and also our mood!!! Sometimes, it is transferred in the IT Lab or it turns into a real Science Lab… since unfortunately there is not a separate one yet… I really like the digital equipment I have as well as the science lab’s equipment I have collected… and my students, as most of them are willing to participate in collaborative activities!!! On the other hand, the absence of curtains in the windows this year as well as the bad adjustment of the digital projector and interactive board are quite awful problems!!!

In my classroom, there are 4 learning stations. The first one (top left) is the main group work where the students follow the main stream lesson and work as teams. The second one (top right) is the reading corner. The third one (bottom left) is the craft corner where the students create things and the other station (bottom right) is for those who want to focus on something and want to work by themselves or someone wants to help someone else.

The majority of time is when I teach and the students work alone or in teams. This is something I try to change and I am working on it. This course helps me on that.

In my classroom there are 12 computers and the students are taught the lesson of computer science one day every week. I am in the middle of the classroom and the students are around me. My classroom is a traditional one, with two barred windows.

The biggest problem is the small size for 25 16-year-old pupils, what makes it difficult for us to arrange other dispositions. Sometimes we have worked in a U-shape, but it takes ages and a lot of noise to arrange and re-arrange.

Another problem of it is that we share a window with the classroom next door, so when we want to lift or lower the shade, we need to interrupt our neighbours and kindly ask them if they can do that for us. Plus, there’s a reflection on the blackboard, so chalk is not visible from some places.

What I like the most is the sunlight that comes in it.

I am sorry to sound so hopeless about it, but our school is really old, this building was provisionally built, but it went through for decades, and it’s cold in winter, extremely hot in the summer…

Can students collaborate in it? If they are willing to work, they can stand and arrange groups of 4-5 people… but we have scarce options to use more than pencils, colour cartons, books… and there’s no WIFI connection.

By the way, although I am a Spanish and literature teacher, I am not teaching this year. I am working at the Ministry.

My class is formed by 19 students, and believe it is the right number to teach well. The classroom is large and bright because there are three windows. There is a digital whiteboard and a traditional blackboard, unfortunately in my school there is no internet connection. If I need to connect to the network I use my phone as a router. Pupils do not have the tablet, or other technological tools, someone occasionally bring to class their tablet, but we can not use it for educational activities.
I like to work in an interactive way, use more technology, but in schools, very often this is not possible, because they lack the economic resources.

As I run the two labs of science of my school, I have the privilege to teach inside one of them (piture). So I can use projector and screen to show my slides and videos during the course and of course do, with my students, some experiments (using microscope, isolating DNA etc.).

We had the opportunity to attend in this lab-classroom the annual interactive insight lecture given by European Molecular Biology Laboratory, (EMBL, 09/12/2016), which is where my attached picture is taken from.

The lab is also equipped with an interactive whiteboard, which unfortunately I haven't used yet. This is the first thing I want to change. :-)

Secondly, I would like to adapt the shape of my classroom as it concers desks' positioning in order to enhance collaboration between my students.The most appropriate conformation would be to form separate groups of students around each lab table-desk. The problem to do so is the realtive space that we have in our disposition.

All of my school classroom are organized in a traditional way as shown in the scketch below. There is a teacher's desk, a blackboard , a small bookcase and the pupils' desks are arranged in front of the chair. Some classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboardand a small wall unit with computer .

I like the Interactive whiteboard and the brightness of classrooms. IWB is a powerful tool for the involvement of pupils (I teach Maths and Science and this year I have started teaching coding in some of my classes) but unfortunately the IWB is available mainly in a few classrooms and there is a wired internet connection only. No wifi connection is available so students cannot freely use their portable devices.

All of the rooms are small so I really dislike the fixed arrangement of students' desks because there is no space to move around and we cannot create activity corners. Another downside is the lack of curtains, most of the time it is impossible to see clearly the interactive whiteboard.

I am not a good at drawing so this is a very simplified picture of my classroom. My kids sit in groups so they can more easily work together on collaborative tasks. Behind the teacher desk you can find a smart board/beamer/speakers and a laptop. What I like about my classroom is that I have access to the internet and the possibility to show things via smart board. This makes the implementation of ICT, at least a little bit of it, possible. I can also bring a wifi-hotspot for my students which is nice too. I would like to have more space to set up a more flexible classroom
and I wish that every student could use their own mobile device with school wifi that would make the use of digital tools for new learning scenarios much easier. I could certainly try to organize some kind of learning zone similar to idea of the 6-zones used by the future classroom lab. If I compare my classroom to the classrooms that are described by other participants of the course, it becomes obvious that the equipment we have at our school is certainly not bad, but what also becomes obvious is that most of the classrooms do live up to the idea of a classic learning environment for students.

This is not my class. It is a typical class of a primary school in Greece. I teach in 5 schools and in 11 classes with many differences between them. It is the teacher who decides how the class is organised and I use it once a week. I like when the class is technologically equipped and spacious because I teach a foreign language and I need these features. I don't like when the students sit one by one and I can't form groups.

I tried my best with this sketching. My classroom has six big tables and I move the students around depending on the activity we are doing. Projector and board is on the front and my desk is on a corner at the front too. I would like to have more flexible tables and chairs but this is what I have now. I teach in the first year of a Primary School with 19 pupils.
This is my classroom.

The two things I really like in my classroom:
1) The teacher's desk is positioned in a corner just along the wall and I do not use it during the lessons as I generally walk around the class or take a seat among my pupils or stay at the blackboard.
2) The walls and even the 4 big windows are full of posters, pictures and drawings.
The two things I really would like to change:
1) The furniture: more spacious desks and comfortable chairs for my children
2) We do not have an interactive whiteboard, nor PCs nor any other technological tool.

I do not teach always in the same classrooms.

So I add one drawing from what was the computer lab (and partially it still is).

I would like add another drawing from a more traditional classroom but it seems impossible to add more than one, so you will just have to imagine it. Sorry.

2 thing to preserve
From both I would like to preserve the screen, we do not use digital whiteboard, rather we use either a computer with a touch screen.
I would also preserve in the traditional one the ratio between number of students and space, I am quite lucky cause I do not have the full class.

Center table is great in the second classroom, cause when, for instance, we are programming an arduino or a robot they can move from this table (a test table) to the computer to do and iterative process.

2 things to change

In the traditional clasroom I would change students desks to modern wheeled table which will allow flexibility. I will also eliminate some tables and seat to create an investigation space, so they can make some experiments more comfortably.

In computer lab I will probably eliminate one or two rows of computers to create more space to store component and material for robotics. With the extra space I will also divide the central table into different tables to tests designs

My classroom typically looks like this: desks in rows facing the teacher's desk. One of the things I don't like is this arrangement indeed, which isn't certainly the best to favour interaction. Another thing I don't like is the fact that you can't make the room dark enough to better appreciate the viewing of a film.
However, there are also some good things. There's an interactive white board in most classrooms . And then there are several labs where you can implement more interactive activities, and students do not spend the entire day in one classroom so they can get a bit of movement, stretch their legs and refresh their minds every now and then, and that helps, you know

At school we have a fantastic project that consists on baptize our classrooms. In the picture bellow you can see my classroom, with students making peer work. This classroom is named Sophia de Mello Andersen, a big portuguese poetry In my my classroom i like the chalKboard, because i use it to illustrate some ideas, and the interactive board and i would like to keep it.Two things that i would like to change in my classroom would be the tables disposition and the chairs, i would like them with wheels. To accommodate 21st Century Skills development work in small groups is very important. My board director doesn't present any problems if i want to change class disposition

This is the classroom setup. I like the fact that children are organized in groups of 4 or 5 and that there is enough room for them but I don't like the fact that it is quite similar to traditional organization as the teacher and board are in front of the students. This is one classroom from my school. Honestly, the only think I really like is the view from the windows. It’s old, furniture old, not really appealing, either for students or teachers. We really need some space renewal. Many schools in Portugal were “updated”, but not mine, sadly. My classroom is, mainly, teacher centered and, as I share with another colleague, I can not change the distribution freely.
At least, two years ago, I did have the opportunity to swap the traditional desks for chairs that are easily moved and allow different distributions during our lessons (circle, group work, ...)
For sure, I'll keep my laptop, my loudspeakers and my beamer.

My tourism lab is organised with different learning zones because pupils work in training firms (virtual travel agencies).
I like the fact they can work in teams and make projects and plan their activity.
There are two main difficulties: one is little space we share, and the second is the old technology.
I have got a wireless router and we can use mobile devices, laptops and tablets.

My classroom is quite a traditional one as we lack of suitable spaces except for labs but even there we are not well equipped. I’d like I could manage a strong flexibility of spaces according to the different activities but when I try to do it often means a great waste of time and sometimes chaos or asking for collaboration to colleagues or to the other members of the school staff. In particular I’d like to have well equipped classrooms but at the moment I only have BYOD.

I am not always in the same classroom so that's the first thing I would like to change.Make it look more like a language classroom. Our classrooms are very traditional as you can see from the sketch. We have a board, a projector and a computer which is on a teacher's desk. It is not intended for studen't use. What I like the best about my classrom is that it is spacious and very light. I don't like it that we don't have curtains so watching sth or doing a presentation can be a real problem. I would love it if we had computers for our students in the classrooms so they could do some research in school, not just at home.

My classroom is not like other classrooms in our school where desks are arranged in rows. However, there are things that I like about my classroom and things that I don't like. Two things I like about my classrom are: Intenet access (I brought my own computer to school and school provided my classroom with the Internet access) and the arragements of desks (U-shape is an opportunity for better communication at my EFL lessons). What I dislike about my classroom is it's tiny (little space but classes are rather large) and desks and chairs are too bulky difficult to move when necessary. After seeing the video with the classes and learning spaces of the future, I would keep in my class for sure the layout of the desks to the islands, the LIM and the library corner. In my class I could take my old slate blackboard, I unused, and would replace the desks and chairs with more ergonomic models and less bulky. Yes, class collaboration is still in first place, the biggest obstacles are the size of the class (about 6 * 5 mt) that does not allow the division into different spaces and the lack of further technological workstations to create, investigate, develop. Nevertheless my third primary class pupils carry their tablets and work in small groups with coding tasks to make stories with Scratch Jr, then interact, create, investigate, present and creatively develop stories. I follow my passion. There probably are positives and negatives to any profession, but I truly love working with children. First and foremost…I learn something new every day from the children I work with, and when I leave at the end of the day I go home tired but understanding the fact I am guiding children in a positive safe environment in their learning journey.
There are times when the above doesn’t happen, as we all don’t learn at the same pace but it gives me opportunity to try my lesson from a different approach and as a teacher that is what it is all about.

Teachers have to move from to room (students' classroom). They don´t have their own room, except for teachers who need specific subjects (Biology, Chemistry...). This is a thing that all teachers would like to change. The classrooms are well equiped with computers, internet, interactive whiteboards. Things really needed nowadays.
But the space to create a more agreable, a more well decorated (no empty white walls...), a more pleasant room to be and to learn, to like to teach and to like to learn are really needed.

I like my classroom, I work very well with my students until do not exceed 18/20 pupils, because my class is not enough large, so when it happen as this year that I have a class of 28 students I have difficult to manage them. Many of the wooden chairs in my classroom have very old seats, also the desk are in bad conditions. I’d like to change the furniture with coloured and movables desks to make better a pairs or groups work. the good thing is that I can use in my classrooms an Interactive Whiteboard (you can see it in the photo) that is a very attractive and useful tool for whole my class.

It was a different lesson in the contemporary art museum, nearby. Students were participated in activities and they tried to approach the pieces of art in a creative way. The subject was migration and refugees. They were excited!!! I wish we had this kind of classroom everyday!!!

In my school classrooms are quite traditional, set in a prefabricated building of the 1960s which should have been replaced by other school premises. The school is still there, uncomfortable and austere, but every classroom has got its own IWB. Students can bring their own devices and are progressively getting used to a virtual learning environment that some colleagues and I have been recently trying to introduce. What I really dislike is the colour of the walls (a dull grey: the walls are actually metal partitions) and the furniture: it hasn’t changed since I was in a similar school many (many…) years ago. What I like is the fantastic view from the windows on one side of the building, which overlook the old part of the city and the port. It compensate for the greyness of the classroom.

Usually in my school the classrooms are set in traditional way with the teacher desk in front of the pupils desk. Behind the teacher there are Lim and blackboard. But sometimes we set the guys in different way for work group or different tasks. I like my classrooms because are large, bright, comfortable and there is computer wifi connected. So I and my pupils can use it for lesson. About my classes I don't like there are not spaces for books, the forniture is often old.
In this classrooms I can easy change the setting and have some corners where we can work for the 21st century skills. We don't have many technologies but we can use tablet, printers, cameras, computer.

I don't have my own classroom. There are six classrooms in my school and teachers go from one classroom to another. All of the classrooms have three rows of desks (and teacher desk), traditional board and projector. We have one informatics classroom with PCs and one classroom is for practise.
I like: classroom is intimate, has enough light and it's quiet
I dislike: old furniture and there is no modern tehnology.

(+)Two things I want to keep: my pupils work in a slipper which makes the work space more personal (one does as at home). Likewise, I like the reading corner / shelves on the two large cushions. Children love to be there. We do not feel like we're in class.
(-) I would like to have more place to circulate more freely and more tablets (or an interactive whiteboard). I would also like to be able to paint the class of different color (and why not plenty of them).

In my expirience the classroom setting change, according with activities we are doing. Students can work in team or individually but they are always active builder of their competences, they face always a problem and they have to solve it using critical thinking. Better results working in team, of course! I like the moon that students have working in team.
I don't like that our spaces very often are few and deficient in equipment.

As I am not a teacher, I do not have my own classroom. In most schools I work at however the classroom will have a interactive whiteboard in the front and the tables will very much depend on the classroom (although most students are sat in groups of 4). Although interactive whiteboards are very useful, often they are still used in the traditional format and is just a replacement for a typical blackboard/whiteboard. Most schools I work at now also have iPad’s throughout the school, however very often they are not used for educational purposes.

Hello, I'm Germina from Romania!
In the school where I teach, I don't have my "own classroom", but I move from one classroom to another, depend where I have the next class.The classrooms are traditional type. The teacher stands in front of the class near the whiteboard, two students stand in each bank, being arranged on three rows.

The things that I like and I want to keep are:
1. large windows that give us the impression that we are closer to nature
2. the classrooms are spacious enough
3. that I am in the place that I do what I love: to teach students and learn along with them.

The things I do not like and want to exchange them are the following:
1. We don't have technology in the classroom at all, not even a computer, projector, whiteboard
2.Sometimes I must work with 35 students in one class, so I haven't sufficient time to talk with each student every lesson

I do not have one of my classes because I have more than one class. I can say that all my classes are organized in the traditional way, there is at the moment the LIM running and do not know when to reactivate, go to the lab where there are computers and I do my best to engage and motivate my students. I would like more room to organize some other activities. More often I just want to move with the chairs pupils leaving the benches in place in order not to upset the classroom structure that serves to connect the next hour, and I fit in carrying out creative activities or cooperative learning. Generally the classes are very bright.
Things I hate:
- Too little space
- The setting of banks (I have to adapt to me)
- A few electronic instruments

- The laboratory areas deficient of equipment and material.
The only thing I like is the work that I can do with my students and gives me a lot of satisfaction, because even in such precarious conditions I enjoy to organize more activities from each other, to take them apart and reassemble them and they respond pretty well to this work liveliness both individually and in groups

I have a very small classroom :( but I have the internet and my own PC. Students have their smart phones, so we can work..We also use the projector for many things. Also at school we have one classroom with ipads, so teachers can go and use that class.
I wish I had bigger class.. I would separate it into the zones.

I do not post a photo of my class because I have more than one; I change classes every hour. My classes are organized in a traditional way but there is a Whitheboard Projector with a PC for the teacher. One lesson a week I use the ICT lab where there are computers. Most of the classrooms at my school are traditional ones and so is mine. The thing I like is the fact it’s quite spacious – prepared for over 30 students while I teach groups of 16 students. Thus, it’s easy to organize different seating arrangements suitable for pairwork or groupwork. The other plus is the plants (not seen in the photo:-( – it’s about creating the atmosphere. As for the changes, I’d definitely add more equipment so that the students don’t have to bring their own laptops when we have project activities.

Almost in every school, classroom are organized like this one. In my school that the way , the tradicional one. Nowadays the number os students are increasing, so the space is smal. I use to work in pairs or individually. We have a computer, wifi( with lots of dificulties, but exists), a whiteboard or black one. Somteimes we use smartphones to work with - Socrative, plickers and some others. I use them too and Geogebra . Althought smartphones are forbiden but we can use it just for learning. I teach English to the talented and gifted kids, so it's not a secondary school, and, that's why I am free to choose seats arrangments. I have two boards: one is the whiteboard and the other one is the interactive board. My desk is in the rear of the classroom. Actually, I would get rid of the desks and chairs and arrange something cosy as comfy seats and small tables to create a warm and safe environment. As you can see my school keeps a very traditional type of classroom. Tables are movable so it´s easy to create the conditions for group work. What do I like and would keep? What I like about my classrooms and I’d like to keep:

Although I teach in a school where traditional classrooms are set with the desks in rows, the teacher’s table in front of the room, and student desks moved far enough apart to prevent easy wandering of eyes during tests, what I like is the fact that there aren’t any school policies that affect classroom displays. So, whenever I want I rearrange seating with the help of two or three student volunteers because if you have seats in rows, students at the front can't see any of the students in the class. Those in the back mostly just see the heads of their fellow classmates. I arranged the tables based on what I want the lesson to accomplish: discussion, debate, pair work, group work.
As all the classrooms have a computer; a datashow and a whiteboard and although whenever I want the students to use the wi-fi I have to ask, in advance, the password to the director, it’s great to use it .

There are also two more things I really like in some of my classrooms: the wide windows, which allow natural light and the possibility to use some walls to hang student’s works.

What I dislike about my classrooms and I would like to change:
Unfortunately I have to run from classroom to classroom every 50 minutes, I don’t even have a single room with some classes and having 50 minute periods, twice a week doesn’t allow students to research, discuss, and share their findings and embrace project-based learning.

As I am teaching 100% online at VIU University in Valencia, I cannot post any picture, as required, because our classroom is a completely digital platform, created through Blackboard Collaborate. But I visited VIU's headquarters once and I can say it is a very stylish learning space, divided in different areas. It is not truly meant for students to study there, although there are some individual cabins with an internet connection to make presentations or sit online exams. In one big area you can find all the desks of the heads of department, and in other areas you can find the marketing staff. There are also a few rooms for formal meetings recorded live. I really liked the style of VIU and perhaps in the future they will condition more areas for students. What I liked the most was the choice of colors (orange and black) and the modern furniture. What I liked less were the cabins and some lack of space in the teaching areas. But I definitely enjoyed visiting the headquarters of such an important online university.

What I like from my classroom is:
-It is a lit up and spacious classroom.
- I can change your setup because we spend a lot of hours in the same place.

- We haven’t got a technological device for each one.

As I can see, classroom in my school is not different than most of your classrooms. It is set up traditionally, but it's not hard to move desk for working in groups. Currently, I don't work in classroom but when I did, I always try that it is clean, bright, colorful, with lots of materials and pictures. I would like to have a mobile desk for one pupil (on wheels) that is easier to move as you need.

Two sides of the same class: In Greece most courses are taught theoretically with frontal teaching. In some cases you can use the computer lab.
Two things that I like in my class.
1) It is in a (rather) modern and safe building.
2) When we use the Internet, the speed is really fast.
Two things I do not like:
1) The number of students in the class is large and each student has different needs.

2)There is no special electronic equipment (projector, laptop for every class) to support the course, when lesson is tought theoretically.

This is a picture of one of my classrooms. In Italy students have their own classrooms and we teachers move from classroom to classroom. This is one of my best classrooms. I like it because it has a PC and a IWB, but it also has a blackboard which I can use to write notes, single words, make tables, even while I show something on the IWB. For this reason I like it when the blackboard is next to the IWB (Yes, I have had a classroom where the blackboard and the IWB occupied opposite walls...)

This is a 'video presentation' of our school some students created for their peer partners of an Erasmus+ projects. Our classrooms setup follows the grid or row structure, they are often small for the number of students they have to contain. When we want students to work in group or pairs we move the desks to find the best solution. Two things I like about my classroom is the decoration and the many windows. Two things I would like to change is the type of chairs/desks and their positioning in the classroom. As I am not a teacher, but work in an NGO which provides training for teachers I au unable to post the photo of my classroom. However, after viewing some of the photos posted here, and comparing them with my own experiences in Croatian schools (which I have seen a fair number of), I must say that the conditions are similar. Most teachers still stick to the traditional way of setting up classrooms (the grid), with few of them implementing changes towards more open classrooms, such as setting up tables for group work or organizing learning centers for different subjects/skills. ICT is rarely present in classroom, and usually it is in the form of a lone computer. Unfortunately, there is no money for anything more expensive. However, putting ICT aside, teachers can still do a lot to transform the classrooom and learning experience happening inside it by rearranging tables, asking pupils to decorate the walls to their own liking, and organizing learning centers.

The classrooms where I had the opportunity to teach last year were more or less all the same. The setting was very traditional, the habit was the one of a frontal lesson, with a few changes of the routine.
I noticed that the students were reacting with enthusiasm and participation when some variation was introduced.

My school has computers and projectors in virtually every classroom. Some rooms have Interactive Whiteboards. Summaries are digital, almost all administrative processes (documents) are concentrated in databases. There is a tendency to computerize as much as possible. However in the teaching process, despite some good tools that the school gives, I think most teachers only use the projector for "PowerPoint". Some still use chalkboard and chalk in a traditional teaching style.

I use Dropbox and OneDrive daily where I share the various docs with students and others. In my classes, we use different technical applications, some promoted by me, others filtered after, suggested by the students. To communicate with students outside the classroom (PAP, FCT, questions, etc.) we use WattsApp. Use mobile devices only in specific parts of classes, or perform tasks such as video production, presentations, etc.

In this class there are five islands of 6 desks. This arrangement is useful when students are given an interactive task. Assigning roles to each participant in a group keeps the group focused and assures that everyone contributes and learns. This setting encourages interaction between students, facilitates free discussion and foster group dynamics.

However some students have their back to me so it is difficult to monitor everyone. This structure doesn’t give teachers enough space to walk among the students. There is a high probability of students misbehaving when the teacher is not looking.

Row seating does seem to promote attention to individual work. Assigned seating in rows is often preferred by teachers at the beginning of the year ( and during testing) in order to provide order and structure. This arrangement gives teachers ample space to walk among students. Walking between students helps teachers serve as a reminder to students that they are expected to continue working. Supervision and teaching can made easier with the row method. Students facing forward to the teacher and whiteboard in either horizontal or vertical rows. It is for teachers to spot chatty or misbehaving students because every child should be facing forward at all times. It is important to know where each student should sit for maximal learning and minimal distraction.

In the school where I work the same group of students use to change classroom every day. Desks, chairs, black/whiteboards have different places in every room. Some rooms have an electronic whiteboard, some rooms have just a blackboard with chalks (usually provided by the teachers).

My class is quite traditional. It's very illuminated and I love the way how the projector works equipped with apple tv.
I would change the desks in order to change the arrangement faster. When I try to work in groups my students find it difficult to move all the desks and you have to spend a lot of time waiting for them.

My classrooms are designed in a traditional way because there are students more than 30,but fortunately we have got smartboards and wi-fi . I would like to change furnitures and setting arrangments of the classrooms. They could be portable an U shaped. A presantation area, notice boards, and demonstration area for students works could be added. The desks could be more oval shaped because in my opinion angeled materials are not very welcoming with regard to motivation. This kind of desk enables group works.

My class is an empty room in wich we sit down in circle and speak i group. I think circle time is a way to create a communication for all the students because there is the necessity to listen to the other pupils or to speak to everyone. When we have to work in the paper, we stay in classroom to use desks, but the writing work is the results of the activity in group. We try to build the knowledge and we know that the work of everyone is real important for the work of the group.

My classroom setup is very traditional, but we don't think about it too much. We actually move the tables and chairs where and when we need them.
My students are advised to move freely and Every student in my classroom has a tablet so they work all at their own pace, they collaborate online using Edmodo, etc...
But if I could have some money to spend on some great classroom furniture instead of those dreadful wooden chairs it would be amazing

The classroom order is really great and the way what I want. But it may only become real in future, I guess. My classroom is settled in a traditional desk order but we sometimes change the usual order when it is needed. For example when the students are supposed to perform a presentation we moved the desks and make some space for them . I don't like the traditional classroom set up and so many desks in the classroom. I like the students sitting face to face in the shape of U set up. I wish we had less students in language classes to be more efficient.

Two things that I like about my classroom:
1. it is spacious;
2.it is light and cosy.
Two things that I would like to change:
1. the furniture - it is old-fashioned, heavy and not at all flexible.

2 pros:

- It is quite big and has lots of storing space (which you cannot see, sorry)
-It has different digital and interactive resources

2 cons:

-The tables are not very comfortable for 6 years old to move when we need to change groups of sit down in pairs or individually

- It is almost impossible to do movement activities inside the classroom as we cannot bend the tables or pile the chairs.

Our school is trying to improve its spaces in order to help children work in a cooperative way and to bring new methodologies to the classroom. Because of that reason, some classrooms have been renewed with new furniture (that you can pile and move easily).

My class is large, bright and well heated, but does not have many educational facilities. There are maps and there are no computers on the network to be able to organize a work of multimedia and interactive group.

In my school, classrooms are very traditional. Students sit in desks in rows and they are supposed to listen to what the teachers say. Sometimes they work in groups and we move the desks, other times we go to the computer room to make research, create texts, view movies or listen to music, these activities depend on the final work they have to produce.In this context the teacher has a different role, he helps in the research and in the making of the work.
Unfortunately there are no funds and our equipment is falling apart, internet connexion not always functions.... I would like that our means of work would improve.

I had a very traditional set of furniture in the classroom - 15 tables plus the 2 chairs in three rows facing the blackboard. Over a year ago, after the workshop in FCL, I changed the setting tables in such a way that I created 6 workspaces with 4 chairs, to create students the opportunity to work in groups. It's been over a year, but to be honest I'm not fully satisfied. It's hard in 45 minutes 1 time per week to pass both content and ensure fair working groups ... I miss the hardware. I wish I would have, that each group had a computer with Internet access.

Our IT classroom in the school's attic:
Personally, I like the IT classroom. I have no fixed classroom, this classroom is shared so I can't have all my lessons in it.
I have my 2 English seminars in 90 minute blocks ( about English speaking countries- their history, literature, culture, etc.) there.
Students can work on computers, there are 19 computers. I also have the etwinning Club there with my colleague, we publish an online magazine with students- 'eMates' in Joomag.
For English I have only 16 students, half of normal class. Jupeee. There is a projector so SS can also sit in the center and listen to or give presentations. Plus, there is enough space to move, rearrange the chairs, so you can do groupwork and SS do not bother other groups.
Instead of a classical white board there could be interactive smart board.
I am repeating myself but I would appreciate a set of tablets for students:) We have none.

In the glog (made by a S for one etwinning project) you can see the TRADITIONAL CLASSROOM I do not like, compared to the IT classroom I prefer.
MINUSES:
1) It is not my own classroom. I can't keep my things there since we change classrooms and have things ready and prepared. This bother me a lot. There is no solution.
2) It looks boring and it is not as cosy as the attic IT room.
3) If I change the seating arrangement a lot it steals time from the lesson to do it and redo it.
4) There are no computers for students or tablets.
5) Students are used to sit there in pairs.
6) It is crowded with desks.
7) There is no chill-out area, maybe just the no-desks back space at the windows.
PLUSES
1) It is better than in developing countries.
2) It has a projector now, not the traditional green board (it is in the photo) or interactive board in similar classrooms.
3) There is some possibility of movement.
4) There is wifi and my SS can use a mobile phone.
5) You can make quickly groups of FOUR by making TWO students turn their back.
6) It is good for writing tests in groups of 16, one student per desk.
7) It is good for presentations and traditional teacher-centered lessons.

My classroom is organised in a U shape, but sometimes I arrange the tables in groups of 4. The problem is that I share the classroom with other teachers and they prefer the sit individually, so we have to spend some time moving the furniture, which sometimes it's not worthy. Anyway I have some long lessons when I can spend more time organising the groups.
What I like most of my classroom is the Digital Board that we use very often and it's very motivating for the students.

My class is a traditional classroom, but during the Maths hours we create groups of 4 desk. In this way students can collaborate. Each students has got a tablet or a Smartphone. Pros: they love work in this way and they study harder and with more passion. Cons: sometimes they speak of what they have done the afternoon before or they send a message. The first thing I have to say is that I don’t really have a classroom. In my school, secondary teachers usually go from class to class every 55 minutes. Both pictures are two classes where I usually teach.

A) On the one hand, both classes have a traditional setting as all the other classes we have in our school: a teacher desk sits at the front of the classroom and students’ desks are aligned in rows. I’d prefer to have the students in groups of 4 all working in a round-shaped desk, this would facilitate cooperative work. The absolute lack of technology is obvious. The only thing we have is a projector, which not always works properly.

On the other hand, we also have speakers installed as well as good communication devices which are useful in case you need something as this is a big school.

In my school there are traditional classroom. We also have some laboratories which are equipped with technologies and other laboratories for handcraft workings. So, my school environment is very varied. What I really like of it is the atmosphere of order and attention when all students are listening to the lesson. What I dislike is that I cannot fulfill my desire to change the setting sometimes. I'm afraid that other teachers would be disappointed.

I love my classroom because of warm colors, it has a well-organized teachers nook and tables can be easily edited. Also I have a smart board, Apple TV and for each student one iPad. But its big disadvantage is that is small (only 8 * 8 m). I'd love to arrange a reading corner, a recording studio, a creative corner and had iPads as in the classroom, but there is not enough space

My secondary classroom looks exactly like this one, traditional and teacher centered. In addition to this, I have to change every hour to another similar classroom. But there are two things I like. The first one is that we have digital boards in some classrooms, although you never know when they are going to work. The second one is that it has got lots of light. I would like to have a special language classroom with lots of resources and decorations and a different organisation so the students could work in teams. In brief, it´s very difficult to make changes. We would need some support to improve our conditions.

Our school is old but our classrooms are bright with plenty of integrated storage space. We also have an outer door leading out to the yard so we have easy access to the outdoor learning environment. Every class also has an interactive whiteboard. Despite being short on space I have managed to set up a library corner with room for some independent work. I need to make better use of the space I have for more project based learning.

In my classrooms I like the Interactive Monitor and it is big, so there is the chance to set it in different ways and the students can collaborate and use easily the Monitor. I really don't like how desks and chairs are set, because they are in a frontal way and each day I have to move and then replaced them at the end of the lesson, this caused a waste of time.

I would like to have the classroom divided in different areas where students could develop their skills, but this means that teachers have to teach in a different way by using new methodologies and integrate digital tools in their lessons.

Mine is a traditional classroom ... the small space and the large number of children, in addition to the scarce economic resources makes it impossible to do otherwise. This does not mean that you only play in the classic traditional classes, indeed! Just combine the desks to get four work groups, or ask the children to work in groups of three, one set for each row, or to work in two: just a companion, and you work with what you griri behind. Sure to have a classroom equipped like the video would be the best ... but if it is understood the importance of a flexible use of the class room to improve teaching methods ... with a little 'of creativity and imagination you can do something with the little that you have available.

In my class like happiness and flexibility achieved "with a little." I would like to have many more tools ... now we have only the LIM.

I organized my classroom 2 months ago like future lab model. We have also Lego Wedo robotic and coding lesson. Next level is to be a STEM A classrom. Maybe in 2 months :)

In my school the classes are organized mainly in the traditional way, with a table for the teacher in the front row and all other tables oriented towards the figure of the teacher, In each class:
-Table desks are for two students
-There is white marker pen
-There is a whiteboard with a projector and screen
-Order on the teacher's table with internet connection
I like the permanent internet connection that allows us to search for resources and to consult information at any time. I like the ease of going from working 2 to 2 students to work 4 in 4 because of the characteristics of the tables.
I do not like the difficulty to change the organization of the classroom when it becomes necessary to move the tables since they are very heavy. I do not like the fact that the digital whiteboard is fixed in the middle of the wall and "shifts" the traditional whiteboard to a corner of the classroom

The desks in my classroom have the old standard layout and is something that I want to change. Usually when I have classes with older children the lesson is done in groups. Unfortunately, this year I have younger students and it is very difficult to work as a team all the time. However, they make team activities until they will be able to work in groups.
